(Sprint) nexus cpu question

When I look at the cpu at idle , and i am using "system panel from next app " I noticed that both cores are always running , I have the evo 3d also but on that one only one core runs until the demand really increaces then both cores come in , Im concerned about battery life , does anyone have any thoughts is it ics on nexus as opposed to my 3d having gingerbread ?
 
i think by default the kernel doesn't shut one of the cores down. A Lot of the custom kernels do. This is one reason the screen eats so much battery imo.
Thank you , the phone is completly stock , do you think that is why the phone gets really hot when in use , my wife has no interst in rooting hers so I guess ill have to deal with the heat .

first cpu isnt the one draining battery for GNex, its 4G (since it uses seperate chip) and amoled screen.

about OS difference, even tho ICS support true multicore, it has nothing to do with OS. thats differences between AP on Evo 3d and GNex.
snapdragon S3 is asynchronous SMP (seperate frequency and voltage on cores so it works independentlly) while TI Omap4 and other cortex A9 APs is synchronous SMP (both core runs at same frequency and voltage and it shares it work)

IMO 1 core running at higher clock to do task isnt much better on energy saving than 2 core running at lower clock to share the load, and its worse on temperature.

Thank you , I also bought the evo lte a few weeks ago and it having ICS still runs the same as the other evo's , my wife just gets annoyed that the gnex gets hot even in her pocket at times when the screen is off , it as if something is still running , however I did notice that we were in school gym where we dont get good service and the phone was very hot, not the battery but the upper portion of the phone mabe its do to the fact that is searching for service , but side by side my evo did not get hot and hers did .
