Root [ROM] CTMod 3.80 (04/06/13)

That's good to know. It'll save little bit of time on the install.

Kouma, if the installer does that then why do most people say to do this when flashing a new version of the ROM?

Superstition, or habit. Remember, we had to do it after installing Shabbymod.
Shabbymod used a batch file to install it because it did not use CWM.
MODs installed with CWM will typically use Updater-Script commands to format both /data and /cache

Dalvik-cache is in a sub-folder of /data so wiping data and then dalvik-cache is quite redundant.

Thanks man. I have just got so used to doing it that it's like second nature now. lol:p

I am the same way I have rooted 6 different phones sense android came out and you were able to root.I always factor reset then wipe data then wipe cache then dalvik cache then wipe battery stats . I do it out of habit and to be safe. Lol I was even a developer for the HTC evo graphics mainly for swagged out stock but the military has keep me busy so I had to drop out .

I signed into my google account while open google play. Doesn't seem to be getting past the loading screen for google play. There was also a meesage flashed that said kouma mod was denied super user permission. How was it denied?

google play can be a bit buggy. sometimes a reboot clears it up. blame google on that one.

as for the KoumaMod issue, go into SuperUser and check what it has listed under apps.
If it doesn't show a happyface for Koumamod, fix it :)
If it does show a happy face, it was probably a fluke, or it may be related to your google play issue.

check your logcat for warnings and errors if it doesn't clear up after a reboot

Is there supposed to be a seperate app for koumsmod under SuperUser? When I go to SuperUser all I have listed is CTMod settings. It has a happy face. The log shows CTMod settings created and then allowed a few times. The log also shows Koumamod denied.

Yes.
Press menu
Press settings
Look for, press ctmod settings
Look for kouma mod setting...enjoy

For permissions:
I have SU PRO VERSION
Just open up SU under apps, delete all.
This will reset apps permission.
Next time it should allow.

If it doesn't, go into su, under apps, choose the app that is
Getting denied, click it to edit it, look for deny, change to allow

Also in cwm there is option, "fix permission"

Also, in cwm, there is an option "fox

ok, in that case, go into settings > CTModSettings > KoumaKernel Settings

if it doesn't ask for superuser right away:
Make sure it shows the right a2sd mode that you're using, and click save settings.
then give it permission

it should then show in superuser

So with 3.68 Everything is ironed out on Koumamod?

We just go to CTmod settings/Koumamod and select our choice, Rather than doing the entire Koumamod.apk and using the app in your drawer like many of us had to do?

If we set up our stuff using the Kouma app instead of inside the ctmod settings while on 3.6 will we be OK after we flas 3.68, such as the partitions and swap will be uneffected? It shouldnt mess with any SD card settings at all. But I just want to be sure.

Its just that I spent so much time getting it set up in 3.6 that Im hesitant to change anything right now lol. Shes running like a top right now :)

I was the same way...
Just, backup in cwm like normal.
Then flash the update.

Reboor back into cwm.

Choose backup and restore
choose advanced restore.
choose the last backup
select data, let it restore.
Then select, sd-ext, let that restore.

Reboot.your done.

If you added any of those removed apps, like stock browser
Or email, you'll have to copy those, install, flash, how ever you do it
, reboot and do the advanced restore thing again.

I did this, I'm on 3.68 now, everything is back to Normal.

That is why i use data mode.
select data mode
check " disable internal/data"
Swap @ /data/swapfile0 100%

Save.
Reboot.
I'm good, everything works.

That sucks :(
I know you were one of the other ones that had the phone running good and for once in life was hoping for NO updates to be released lol.

I just hope this time when I click in the kouma settings that are inside the ctmod settings that it will all work. All that koumamod.apk and wipe dalvik zip folder and the rest of the stuff was just not working for me for the longest time.

She's running like a 2012 Caddy right now and I'm dreading it going back to running like a 1972 Nova minus the trunk space if ya know what I mean lol...

Maybe tonight if I'm not busy ;)

BTW: Thanks blooddawn!! Its nice to see you stick to this ROM for so long, So many versions, updates, tweaks, fixes, etc. I thought the 2 point versions where the sky. Look at CT now!! :)

Be sure to format your EXT partitions when you change modes.
Your SD-ext backup in CWM is not valid when changing modes, it will only lead to pain and suffering
It takes a long time because it's much bigger than the internal. It only takes forever once.

as for why:
data mode replaces the entire /data partition with sd-ext
SSM mode only replaces a couple folders in /data.
your CWM backup of sd-ext has no clue as to what you were using it for. If you take everything in C:\Windows and move it to C:\, how well do you expect your computer to run?

it takes forever because when Android sees the empty /data, it has to make a bunch of directories and files to make things boot faster later. It also does an integrity check on the partition.... a bigger disk, means the disk check takes longer. It only does it if it's empty, not on subsequent boots.

^ explanation #35[sup]100[/sup] but once again very nice explanation of it. :D now if people will just grasp the fact that when using ssm, you will not see the space available. Both of them give you massive internal memory. But it will only show in your menu when the whole /data partition is in sd (data mode).

I still want to Force Choke the people that think that apps2sd means that it makes apps show up in the "On SD card" tab in Manage Applications.

FYI people, it's just a list of which apps have stored information on your vfat partition of your SD card. You know, all those weird folders that are in there that you don't remember making.... because you didn't!
