Swapping to the Evo V

I'm not sure if I should've posted this in the VM forums, but I'll post here for now. I'm thinking about switching over to the Evo V, but I had a question about swapping from the Triumph. I heard that if you swap on a day, your payment day changes to that date. Right now, my payment is due on the 11th of the month. If I bought and swapped to the Evo V on, let's say, the 28th of June, would my payment day change to the 28th of the month?

Your payment does not change when you swap phones, it only changes when you change plans. Since many buying the Evo are on grandfathered plans, their plan changes along with the phone, so they get a new payment date.

Really? Thanks for your quick reply, that's good info to know. I was worried that I'd lose a month of service if I switched on the wrong date. This is kind of off topic of the thread, but how are you liking the Evo V? Any really nagging problems?

Actually, I was surprised to see people talking about issues with this phone. I had a single reboot happen while I was partway through rooting and figure that doesn't count since it was partly configured. Works like a charm otherwise for me although that's only been a week. No 4G available here at all may be at least partially why I have no problems. Seems most issues are at least related to 4G.

Exactly. I upgraded my grandfathered plan 2 days before I swapped the EVO. I switched off grandfathered plan on my last day of the plan. As soon as I switched, all minutes, data were reset. 2 days later, I received my Evo, swapped the phone (30 seconds), activate the phone (5 minutes), I was done. During the swap, no extra charge, no reset on minutes.

Thanks guys. Yeah, moving off the grandfathered plan causing the changed date sounds right. I am currently on the 35 dollar plan, so it sounds like if I swapped, my date would not change. Hopefully I will be able to get this phone soon, if I can sell my Triumph for a reasonable amount.

I got $175 for mine, so you never know. :) Better jump on it quick before everybody else with a Triumph tries to unload theirs too! (It was an A+ switch, btw, I think you'll be very happy. I don't miss my Triumph one bit!)
