No matter what MS puts out I will NEVER buy it. Ditto for Apple.

The Win8 and WinPhone Metro UI is beyond stupid & ugly anyway. Kiddie stuff. Insults users intelligence. Clumsy. Unintuitive. Uggghhh!

I love Windows 7, but hate the UI for Windows 8. I do like the idea of apps on my tablet/mobile device running on my laptop/desktop though.

And as for the "Surface," I think they should have just been honest with themselves and named it the "Zune 2."

I'm not sure on the UI for Win8, but it is an improvement over Win7 at the technical level. Its boot time on my Windows tablet is amazing, even for a 5400 RPM mechanical drive.

i have to admit MS has a lot of potential to get a great mobile system going.
with all that they can tie into the whole ecosystem.

but there is a big mountain of strong competition to over come.

this is going to be a great fight.. and hope they have their ducks in a row.. because BB and Palm did not and paid the price.

Am I in the minority here in that I have no interest in any Microsoft Products? I find the phones very unattractive, and their software for PC's boring and over-priced. I had read somewhere something about Microsoft making Windows 8 to only work with their browser and not Firefox or Chrome.

There's some speculation about the possibility of a Samsung Chromebook that runs Android coming out. I would love to have my computer and phone completely free of Microsoft and Apple!

Agreed. As a company they've had their day in the sun ... but that ended years ago, and now it's over.

Google and Apple are trying to fill the niche. At least I haven't seen a Linux distro touted as controlling everything in your home. (It can, but it ain't advertised)

I simply don't want all my eggs in one basket.
