What's the big deal with unlimited data anyways? Are you guys streaming a ton of hi DEF movies every month? I do a lot of online browsing and tether to my iPad quite a bit. I still have yet to go over 3GBs in a month. I can't see getting anywhere close to 10 in one month.

And why do you think that what is fine with you is fine with everyone else? I drive 55mph and can get to and from work and everywhere I go and stay under 55mph. Why would anyone need to do more than 55mph? Really, if you leave early enough and plan ahead, watch your speed, 55mph is really fine for everyone. If it's fine for me, should be fine for you.

I tried to preorder online but couldn't so I called customer service. She said my son's line upgrade is in August but that he could do an "early upgrade" now but that I couldn't do a preorder without paying full price. She did mention he could save $100 on a smartphone if he gets something that is currently out. She also explained that we only use about 1.5G a month and could save about $40 a month going to 2G instead of unlimited. Does that sound right? (saving $40) She said it would be the same if I wait until it comes out.

It's a huge deal. On average I run about 10GB\Month without trying. I use a lot of streaming applications like HBOGO, Plex.. And it's only going to get worse as more data intensive applications are released.

I have a Rezound. I don't hate it but I don't love it either, it's just okay. Obviously my line isn't due for an upgrade. However, my son's line is. Would this be a big upgrade over my phone. Should I take his upgrade to get this phone and give him my Rezound? Or is it not much better than what I have? In that case, I would just let him go pick out something cheaper. (He has an INC)

A couple thoughts. One is that this is your last chance to upgrade and keep Unl Data. And, by all general account this phone should be the top of the line for at least a little while, there's nothing right around the corner. Not to say that there won't be in 6 months, but at least not next month.

Also, the Rezound is a great all around phone and I think your son will greatly enjoy it

This may be the first phone that I keep for a full 2 years

As an absolute minimum, I stream 40 hours a month not counting any other data. I have a backwoods 2 hour drive to and from work without much radio to choose from so streaming is my survival tool.

My highest data use was 2.1Gb one month, but that was a while ago. My average is about 0.6Gb, but I'm still on a 3G phone. When I get the SIII with 4G I'm positive my data use will increase. That, and the fact that you never know what amazing, data churning, app is around the corner. I'm keeping unlimited as long as I can.

I work in the construction trade for 40-50 hours per week on the job with about 15 hours of drive time per week. I am either listening to Pandora or Sirius while working and a lot while driving. I have yet to see my data usage drop bellow 10gb per month.... That's a pretty big deal for me. Not everyone can survive on breadcrumbs.

I think it's agreed upon that my data usage, about 4 gb, streaming 4-6 hours of radio.com or A Online Radio per day can't be used to judge someone else's needs or usage. I think most, not all, will find their monthly bill around $10-$20 more or less than with the new plan. It will hurt some of the heavy users. I think for many families it breaks even. Figure 4 phones = $160.00, plus $50-$100 for data.

Does anyone here really pay much less that $210 - $260 for a family of 4?

Oh good...pages & pages of bloat!! Just what we want.

I am not sure how accurate that is. I think the Samsung CSR you spoke with has the same competency level on a Verizon CSR. They are probably in call center in Ohio. One of Samsung retail Reps. These are guys are the ones that train you on the device when you go to carrier/ vendor conferences on new device and talk about device availability. He was on the sprint conference call yesterday talking about the back orders effecting all carriers. He explicitly stated it was not just not sprint that was having a phone shortage but all carriers, Some carriers have not even received any phones at all yet. Just a handful for testing. He did not specify the reason why its delayed but he did point out the shortage is only with the north American handsets. Which leads most to believe its because of the processor demand.

I would imagine this would indicate Verizon due to the fact they have not released a launch date. I find it hard to believe that Verizon has thousands of pre orders ( don't know the exact number) already in the warehouse just waiting to ship, When other carriers cant even get enough phones from Samsung to fulfill their pre orders and have to delay launch dates. Now in case verizon does have them and they are sitting on them, If I was another carrier I would F****** pissed! and I do not think Samsung would put themselves in that position.

What do you guys keep believing what the CSR's tell you? CSR's are like meteorologists: they are very good at telling you what's going on right NOW, but don't count on them to predict the future! :D

Seriously, you're going to believe a CSR that tells you they'll ship in a week over your confirmation e-mail that tells you it'll ship on July 9, 10, or 11? Okay, sure sure... it says "BY" that date, but this is VERIZON we are talking about. And history repeats itself.

I am hoping my phone arrives within a day or two after the date that is in my e-mail confirmation. Anything sooner and I'd be ecstatic. Anything later and I won't be at all surprised, though certainly disappointed.

Just keep your expectations in check!

Verizon secretly owns qualcomm and has been making the processor in the warehouse and hoarding them :)

Woah, I didn't think people really used over 10gb a month. No wonder Verizon made this new tier plan. So in two years from now, it will probably be 100% tier data plans, no more unlimited.

I only use around 1-2gb a month, but still want unlimited "just in case" I need it.

I have used a lot of data, about a year back. I am pretty sure Verizon changed its tos because of me. I changed from a windows mobile phone to blackberry storm and they didn't carry that data plan over. I had 51,000 dollar bill. Some of you might remember me on here talking about that.

No joke I used 60 gigs one month about a year back. No joke. I am pretty sure Verizon changed its tos because of me. I wasn't here for that, but $51,000! I would have probably died of shock upon opening that bill.

haha that's crazy! Do you have the picture still? What happened in the end?

Just to clarify my original post. I'm not saying people should not be using so much data, I was just saying I didn't think so many people did haha.

But honestly, if I ran Verizon and was losing money or potential profit on people using 20-60gb a month, I would change the data plan too. They're in it for the profit just like every other company/human.

I was in an uproar at first too, because who knows, maybe I would use around 5gb a month, but now that I see people using 20,30,40gb of data, I can see why they changed their plan :(

I don't really need unlimited, but I would end up paying more for only 2GB (and get charged for overages if I use 3GB like in your case). Why would I not want to keep my unlimited plan?
