Help Battery problem Q/A thread.

So I rang up Three and complained about my battery. After 1hour on the phone explaining I have done everything to try and increase the battery life they agreed that I might have a faulty battery.

What surprised me was that instead of sending me a new battery they told me they will change th phone as a whole and send me out a new phone. Strange in my opinion but hey that's what they want.

So getting my new phone on Monday will let you guys know if the problem still exists.

It makes sense as although it could be a faulty battery, it could possibly be another fault too. It may seem overkill, but if they swap everything then theres more chance your issue will be resolved.

I hope it resolves it.

In terms of resetting my phone if I do a factory reset can I still use the phone without signing into my google and Samsung accounts?

I'm having a battery problem unlike anyone else's. My battery drains insanely fast without doing anything, screen off. Yesterday, it ate through 28% in one hour with the screen off. I closed a lot of stuff, nothing. I checked my usage and it was normal. So, I turned on my wifi, not something I normally keep on, I do have a home network but only have if on if I need it. After turning wifi on and leaving it connected continually, my battery seems like normal. I've used 5% today with just a couple texts and mostly screen off, 3 1/2 hours off the charger. Seems like something really wants to drink power when the wifi's off. I have nothing new yet from my previous phone setup, has to be bloatware.

You'd be able to use the cellular functions, i.e telephone and sms if you bypass the sign in. You would also be able to browse. You just couldnt do anything related to your google account, like set up gmail application or market.

Well, I have since charged so my stats were wiped. I'll give you what I've got now but this is since I've been staying on wifi. I guess I can turn it back off and see if it drains fast again and then do some screens.
This is what I got today, this is good for me.

I used mine for a couple of calls couple of hours or so browsing about 100 txts over 19 hours and still had 49% battery left

I recommend buying System Panel app and turn on monitoring. Then you can see what app is doing the harm, which is probably your culprit. And beware of the phandroid app. I forceclose it after every use(which is a lot); it often gets stuck in some process and drains battery like that.

Cell standby...
Is this just a SGS3 issue? I didnt see this with the Sprint LTEvo.

Cell standby is a known bug, that in all probability will be addressed in a future update.

Another tip is using POWER SAVING MODE.

No problems for me yet. I owned the EVO LTE and today I used my S3 100x more than normal, trying out S Voice, adding all my apps and more and am still at 65% after all day.

Not saying its perfect but it will easily last me a full day with major usage as I can charge every night.

That running services info is meaningless. You need to know the cpu time for each of the apps. That will tell you if something is getting stuck.

Showing us one where your battery is on 95% isn't very useful; we need one where your battery is quite low, so that we can see what has drained it.

We'd also need one showing how long the screen has been on.

Did you connect the phone to your charger? The time only shows how long it was since the phone was unplugged, so if you charged it only to 95% then it would drop to 91% more quickly than it would if to charged it to 99%.

Plus the first 10% does drop quite quickly.

No, the phone was not connected recently. As far as I know, the time shows the battery life left, not how long it's been unplugged, right? No why 8 mins left if it's at 91%?
