Official I've got ICS installed thread..

4:12 on the battery and it's at 50%. Looked but don't see any odd apps or processes running so not sure what's eating the battery so fast. Not a good sign though.

What was your battery like before

If you are not in a 4G area, then the issue may be that the default setting for the phone is set to use LTE which causes the battery to drain quickly, as it keeps looking for it. The ability to change that easily in the settings was removed in ICS, but it's still possible.

Or use the app referred to in the article for easier access.

I've been on ICS since last Friday. I sideloaded it. I tried just dropping it on the sd card and installing it through stock recovery but that failed and left me with my phone not going past the red Motorola Dual Core splash screen. It would just freeze there and stick. I couldn't get it to shutdown either. Luckily, I was fully charged. So, I went online and figured out I could go into some settings and get it to shutdown so it didn't just drain the battery. Then I went to work, which has a T1 connection, because the utility I finally downloaded to sideload ICS properly was like 1GB in size and I couldn't download that over my laptop tethered to a phone. So, I got it onto my laptop finally and follow the instructions from this link Droid Razr Development - DroidRzr.com and it worked beautifully. There are a lot of threads in there that tell you how to properly sideload ICS from the leak. Follow them to the letter and you'll have this on your phone very quickly. Just make sure you phone is fully charged first and that the update zip file is on your external sd card. I can honestly say, I like the implementation of Blur with ICS better than stock Android. I know, I know...that's nuts. But Motorola did a fantastic job with this! The lockscreen is beautiful! I have Apex launcher installed and and all of the stock ICS icons added, and it looks beautiful. The Blur icons are the only thing I don't like about the phone, stock. They look to "Droid" and robotic, to me. I just don't like that look. Everyone enjoy the update!

Edit: Alright, I went too far in saying that. Completely stock is obviously better. I do, however, like the lockscreen better on ICS on the Razr than on my old GNex. But for the rest of it, stock would be better. I'm just really loving the lockscreen on this thing.

With regards to the SOAK, this is a full on release of ICS for the Razr and Razr MAXX. I just finished a phone call with a Verizon tech (having to trade out my Nexus for a Razr Maxx) and he was explaining that they just started rolling out ICS. I asked about a SOAK test and he said that it was already finished and ICS is rolling out in full over the next month.

So other than doing Settings/About Phone/Sytem updates, there's nothing else one can do to get this update? Sitting and waiting (I tried force stopping and clearing data on the Google Services Framework app, but no effect at all, I guess that trick no longer works).

Considering the overall number of devices expected to receive this update it is going to take a while. Unless you want to install one of the leaks I'm afraid you will just have to wait.

Once I got it up and running the setup put icons for ALL my downloaded apps on the various home pages (5 of them) and completely filled them up - what clutter!

I shuffled all these icons off to the bin and started over, only dropping my frequently used apps onto the home pages.

I mistakenly dropped an icon on top of another one that was already on the home page and guess what - I discovered (new to me at least) the ICS folders.

So now I have five or six folder on my middle home page and I'm doing my happy dance.

Since I haven't seen them discussed anywhere, I thought this tread might be a good place to share.

Oh, and the screen shot functions works a real treat:

1. See, I really do have ICS!

2. Here's my main homepage. As you can see, I've established a number of folders. BTW - The background image is a studio shot I took of my lovely wife - in case anyone were interested!

3. And, this is what you get when you click on my "Photo" folder.

Can any of you who have the ICS comment if the camera on the phone is any better? I am debating on a new phone the SIII or waiting for the Razr HD or snag this now if the camera is better.

The new phones are fast shot to shot. Basically no shutter lag at all. I know with the ICS you can take pics while video recording, but are they clear. Any and all comments on the camera would be appreciated.

Thanks,
John

Me too. Try convincing everyone that you didn't sign up for anything.
:smokingsomb:

Is your phone the one you got new or is it a refurbished phone from VW? I guess either way, someone could have either signed up with that phone and then had to return it cause of defect. They fixed it and sent it out to you and he never changed the info. Or maybe someone input your MEID by mistake(not sure how different everyone's is) Or it is possible that it just randomly sent it out to non MFN people. Whatever the case you are lucky :) I am in the MFN. And I am enjoying my frozen treat ;)

Unless I missed it, I don't believe I saw the question brought up about the data connectivity.

For those that have received the ICS update already, have you noticed an improvement with the data connectivity? Were you experiencing it before ICS? I've noticed that it has gotten a tiny bit better since June 21 (when Verizon flipped the switch on a bunch of new/expanded networks), but driving around with the phone in the car dock and the map on, I still notice the little blue warning come up on the screen stating "maps cannot update due to lack of data connection" every once in awhile. The area I live and travel in are all very heavily blanketed in 4G LTE, so I know that coverage isn't an issue.

Just curious to see if ICS does, in fact, fix this issue. I'm a little worried because in Verizon's software update release on their site, it doesn't state "LTE Connectivity improvements" like I've seen on other phone's software updates.

I personally have better 4G connectivity by far. I have yet to drop and regain a 4G signal

Mine is new, and I am lucky enough to have ICS now. Not sure that factor is present here.

The Camera app is a thousand times better. There is no lag when taking a picture while filming. And the pictures can be taken within milliseconds of eachother. Plus faster focus and seemingly clearer pictures.

I sideloaded it last night. Bricked the phone at first, but followed the hint someone posted about going into recovery, double-clearing the cache and then re-running the update, and that worked like a charm.

Used Voodoo (the app, not the magic) to de-root before running the update and re-root afterwards. Also worked like a charm AFAIK.

Overall I'm quite happy with it so far, though I only got my RM on Friday, so I've hardly done any extensive testing.

I've been using Go Launcher for forever now (had it on my DX under Apex)...are there any opinions on whether the stock launcher (or another?) is particularly better than Go?
