Couple of SMS/App Questions

I've run into a couple of things since going Android last week.

I used Handcent for a bit but then switched to Go SMS Pro. I greatly prefer Go SMS' UI.

- Handcent could group messages in 5 minute windows, so that there wasn't a time tag for each individual message. This is a la iOS. To be honest I really like that particular feature. Is there a way to enable it in Go SMS Pro? The individual time tags make it feel cluttered.

My second question is not at all related, but:

Service at home is quite spotty - I'll have service in one corner of the house, but not my room, but then I'll have it again outside the garage. Is there an app out there which will enable me to send SMS/MMS from my phone via WiFi, AND have it be from my actual phone number? Again, a la iOS - iMessage.

I can answer part of your question - the group messages can be accomplished in GoSMS. Go to Settings > Application Settings > Message grouping and check the box.

That will only group messages from the past, it seems. Description of that field is "[...]they will be classified as a same time-group. (Today's msgs [sic] not included)"

I am usually able to sent messages via WiFi - SMS, not MMS.

I'll give it a try later and see what happens. Otherwise I will just continue to use Facebook Messenger.

I'm pretty sure when they say "today's msgs," they mean the messages you already have... won't be changed to grouped messages, but messages you receive starting after you enable that setting will be. I could be wrong. I stopped using Go SMS so I wouldn't know.
