**** OFFICIAL **** ICS COMING SOON thread... Post all questions and info here!!!!

Probably not. The roll out happens more or less randomly. It's possible their going in order of the Serial Number, so you might be towards the end (depending on when you're phone was made). But it is definitely not pushed out based on your purchase date.
Oh good. So I've got a month of possible waiting. Or 30 seconds.

No, the store can't give you ICS. You'll have to wait for it to reach you. Or you can install it manually (there is a thread stickied on top describing how to do that).

I'm on a Mac. I'll try with Windows, if I have to. But I'd rather wait. It's more fun and less agonizing than worrying if I bricked my phone. If the official update bricks it, I only have to pay $100 deductible.

The first rule of soak test is you don't talk about soak test... the second rule... eh you get it...

I received the download a few days ago... it didn't install because I had changed my boot animation...changed it back and it installed fine... all in all I like it... rooted it and am trying to get Wi-Fi tether to work in again... any questions and I'll do my best to answer...

DISREGARD THIS PART HERE

And if the OTA messed up your phone, that's a warranty issue and not an insurance one. So no deductible.

Interesting, haven't tried yet, but have you tried an older version? or a newer version if you have an older version? (assuming the one that's on the google code pages for download).

When I tested foxfi on a verizon SGN, it just modified/added to your hotspot settings.

If you're on 181 (the latest GB update from a month or 2 ago), you shouldn't need to run the Utility. Can should be able to just put the downloaded update on your sd card, boot into recovery and install it (I could easily be wrong). However I wouldn't recommend attempting that unless you have a windows machine available incase something went wrong.

you need to run the utility so your recovery gets updated to the ICS recovery. other than that its just updating from zip file on sd card after the recover is updated.

Yeah I had a little bit of an older version and tried several newer and older... no go... it would run as an AP on generic ics but an AP does me no good... it would start up and run with other various settings but not show up on my tablets wifi scan... at any rate just wanted to share my dealings...

My whole issue with that is.....why have a soak test looking for possible major bugs, issues then? Wasn't that a waste of time then?

Soak testing is way beyond alpha or beta tests. I have a "friend" who was part of two earlier soaks, and I, I mean he, can assure you Moto did NOTHING to alter the SW during or after the soak, despite numerous soak tester issues.

It would take a major unforeseen catastrophe for a soak to be not the final release. So yeah, it mostly is a waste of time, but you get the SW a week early.
