I have seen the "Factory Reset" mentioned several times. Some people say they do it after updating to ICS. What will I loose if I do this (the music I purchased)?

Honestly my phone is next to useless as it is. If freqently freezes, and the apps crash a lot. I can not even rely on it to wake me in the morning (alarm clock). I have owned the phone since Febuary and have made only about eight calls on it, becuase it is so unreliable. I still have my old Verizon flip phone that woth more than the Galaxy Note ten times over.

I can not take it back, as most of my freinds who bought them have done. Those who still have thiers compalin every day.

Honestly wil the factory reset make any difference?

I would back it up with Kies but it takes a good two hours of plugging and unplugging to get a connection. I did back up my contacts, via Kies air. At least something works on this phone.

I travel to Asia every two months or so.

I am a German/American. I have the unlocked German model N7000. The US models are not available unlocked. I ordered it while I was in Hong Kong, in January. I had it shipped to my home in the USA. Three weeks later I returned from Hong Kong, and the phone was waiting for me.

I used it for the first time in Singapore with my Singtel SIM card. I quickly discovered how crappy the phone was. After returning to the USA in late May, I called Samsung to complain about the crappy phone. They say they can not honor the warranty on that model in the USA (only in Germany). I have since updated it to ICS via Kies (I only successfully connected to Kies once).

I have installed a number of apps (Manderin translater). I disabled the problem apps like "Voice talk", becuase it caused me no end of trouble. "Voice talk" kept popping up at random. It also could not handle my accent.

Factory reset will delete everything on your phone.
A factory reset will fix most bugs/issues with the phone. Generally, a factory reset after a big update is advised.

I don't understand why you can't return the phone to be fixed?
Can I assume.( hate that word), that If someone does a "factory reset" that you loose all your contact info, saved emails, music, photos and etc. What are all these people doing to save that stuff when they do a 'factory reset". Please, if someone is going to tell me to save it somewhere,,(please) be specific on how to save it. In other words, " go to "?", then press"?", after that press "?".. Whenever I answer questions on this forum, I assume,( there's that word again), that the person needs "detailed" info. I know I do when I'm doing this stuff. Thanks

I can not do the reset becuase I will loose the apps that I spent money on. Wow, Google has quite an effective scam operation going!

The official word from Google customer support is "Android must run on thousands of handsets, and iOS need only run on a few". Well, I guess that sums things up. When Apple comes out with a larger iphone it is mine. The cost does not matter so long as it works.

The bottom line is a mobile phone is somthing that HAS TO WORK. My phone is so compeltely laim that if I listen to Pandoria on it, "Voice talk" would pop while the phone is sitting on my desk and I am not touching it. It would pick up the music from my speakers and would try to do Google searches based on the lyrics of the singer. That was entertaining for about two min. I said, "Please turn off this stupid thing so I can listen to my song, OK". It did a google search for "Pizza can not carry song in the rain".

I think the lastest Android ad slogan should be "Pizza can not carry song in the rain".

Thank GOD that I can now disable "voice talk' with ICS.

if you reset your phone, sign into your google account, and when you load up google play, your apps you paid for will be there ready to download again with out paying for it twice. Even if you bought a different android phone, you can get all your paid apps on it like i described above.

so no, it's not a scam.

OK, good thanx. I am sorry about being so negative, but this phone has been a nightmare.

So I can backup all my WhatsApp contacts via Kies, and then do the reset, and then go to the market. Hopefully that works.
