Root updated method to root galaxy 5

hi all
i have a samsung galaxy 5, and i have tried following the methods in this forum to install CWM and a custom rom, but some of the links to the downloads needed to do this do not work.
is there an up to date method somewhere?
the stock rom on this phone is so slow!!
