Help Auto-Brightness doesn't work at all

Hello,
We have two Galaxy S3. On one of them the auto-brightness works well, but on mine it doesn't. It doesn't recognize that I'm in a brightly lit area and seems to think I'm always somewhere dark so when I tick on auto brightness the screen goes extremely dim and stays that way.

Has anyone encountered this and knows what's wrong and how to fix it?
They are both straight out of the box. The only difference I can think of is that mine has a protective film (that I bought) on the screen. It fits perfectly and doesn't cover anything but the screen... are the light detecting sensors on the screen itself and the protective film is somehow messing them?

Mine kind of works but there are times it dims the screen when it shouldn't be. I also have another wierd screen issue. Everytime I access the browser, my screen dims. Then when I am done, it brightens up again?? This is with Auto on or off.
Ok mine works actually. Btw I think there is a separate auto brightness setting in the browser settings..swordfish

From what I understand, the browser has separate brightness options.
The screen sometimes dims automatically even though I ticked off auto-brightness, if it doesn't detect my eyes (I'm using smart stay).

I guess I'll have to check with hardware support (or whatever it's called). Thanks everyone :)
