Hi Everyone

I know some of us have installed the ICS leak recently and we have come across a few bugs and/or issues. I'm not an expert on ICS so maybe it's an ICS thing or maybe it's a bug that will be hopefully ironed out prior to the official release. We can use this thread to post bugs/issues we find in the Bionic ICS leaks so when it goes official we can cross check it to see if Moto resolved those issues.

Here's what we have found this is based on the latest leak Build .2233-
  • Embedded flash vids may not load in the stock browser and 3rd party browsers that I have tried such as Dolphin HD. It can be fixed by uninstalling flash and reinstalling it. I tried it and my browser plays embedded vids again. Yay! (thanks dfib)
  • Webtop's UI force closes when using the stock launcher you'll need to install a 3rd party like Apex to get Webtop to work properly.
  • Some users have their processors clocked at 1.2 ghz and some at 1.0 ghz.
  • Some media codecs such as video file types might not be recognized and a 3rd party Video player may be need to play some file types. Using MX player can possibly fix this. (Thanks Dan Droide)
  • If using the Car dock, VZW Navigator is the default app being used. You can disable the VZW Navigator app through settings or TiBU if rooted if you do not want to use VZW Navigator. (thanks CKwik240)
  • Possible Car and Bedside dock instability. (thanks AurJohn)
I'm going to stickify this until a newer build or an official build comes out.

If possible, if you guys find any other issues...Can you state what build you are on? There might be future builds and the bugs I listed might have been resolved. I'll try to update that as newer builds are released.

Do you want this thread to offer work a rounds for the bugs listed. Such as if you use a 3rd party launcher like apex or nova the webtop ui will not crash.

That the idea. It's a helpful thread rather than let's talk about the leak and how awesome or notso awesome it is. When I posted the Bionic Leak is bootable I classified it as general because I happen to come across it late at night and it was more of a breaking news type thread. I wanted to see what people thought about it.

I know people have had issues installing it, or didn't know how ICS worked, or found bugs so I thought I'd create this thread for people who are still trying to decide if it's worth taking the plunge.

Well, I seem to have found a pretty big bug. Though I may have a solution.

Last night when I flashed, it got stuck on the Media Database Upgrade screen. Not sure but this may be related to my not having my music files in a folder marked music on the internal SD card. (I had mine on the external).

Currently moving them to the internal to see if that will fix things since as of now I am unable to play any of my MP3's

Well, that did nothing, seems also now my phone is running hot and the battery seem to be draining absurdly fast. The Media app which seems to be running non stop seems to be the culpret, it is comprised of:

DRM Protected Content Storage
Download Manager
Media Storage

I installed the 2233 leak and am freaking loving it so far, but I have noticed a *minor* bug.

I use both my car dock and bedside docks every day/night, and I've noticed that after installing the ICS leak, when I put the phone in the dock the screen wakes up, but requires manually unlocking (slide lock only, not PIN/password/pattern/face). Does this in both the vehicle and bedside docks.

Also had to use TiBu to freeze VZ Navigator, as it opened by default on insertion into the vehicle dock after installing ICS, which never happened before. Why would anyone use VZ nav over the google nav?

I had a problem and found a fix.

I have a security system that texts me short videos when motion is seen by my front door. Since the ICS leak, most of the time I get the message "Unable to read video" or something like that, and it won't open. This always worked no problem before the ICS leak.

I found a work around to playing videos attached to text messages:

I downloaded the free app "MX Player" and chose that as my default player in the text app. My other video player apps, including the default ICS player, did not work.

Its probably occurring because you need to set a default dock mode for each dock. Rather than bringing up the dock, it may be stuck in the prompt to choose a dock mode, which does not bypass the lock screen. This was the same for GB.

That said, for the car dock, it appears VZ Navigator is the only one that is populated in the prompt for the car dock mode. The google version is not as I use Car Dock Home v3 and only it and VZ Nav are the only ones in the list whereas with GB, all three were there. This is probably why yours is defaulting to VZ Nav. Interestingly, when I use the Cor dock Home dock mode, the google one runs in the background as it sometimes comes up if I back out of Car dock Home or when i remove the phone from the dock. I'm sure this is just because the build isn't a finalized build, but its a minor problem for me.

One complaint I do have is that it takes forever and a day now to connect to my car's bluetooth. If I start Pandora right after i start the car, I'll get through half a song from the phone's speaker before it finally connects and plays through the car's speakers. Another complaint is the screen bleeds a lot of light in the nighttime mode and the nighttime mode clock is difficult to see. Getting in and out of dock modes while docked seems to be much smoother now though.

Not sure that this means. I'm using Play music for music stored in the cloud and on my phone. No issues here with Play Music. Are you talking about the VCast Media Manager? I currently have that app disabled along with most of the Vcast apps. I've never used it.

Dhacker posted a tweet saying that some media codecs were left out in this version of the leak. Maybe the default vid player couldn't recognize the file type that your security system sent you. I'll add this to the OP. Thanks!

I have both Car and Bedside docks too. I haven't had any issues except for the VZ Nav being the default app when in the car dock. I disabled that through settings and Google maps is not my default app again.

When I'm docked, my phone doesn't lock at all but sometimes the screen doesn't rotate. I guess there's still intermittent instability with the accessories.

I added this to the OP. Thanks!

I also posted this in another thread but it fits in better here.

I have noticed ICS Webtop with stock launcher doesn't crash if I use the small travel webtop adapter, it only crashes when used with the webtop dock for some reason. I know you can use a 3rd party launcher but find it weird the stock launcher works with one but not the other, at least for me.

*edit* A little more info, when used with the small webtop travel adapter a option comes up on the phones screen to launch webtop, with the dock it doesn't.
