ICS: Tips and Tricks

I thought since most of us just got ICS on our beloved Devices that a thread should be started just for us RAZR owners for anyone who wants to post any tips or tricks that they have learned with ICS. I know I for one could benefit greatly from anything someone would like to share.

I haven't seen mention of this in any of the pre-release reviews of Ice Cream Sandwich, so I thought that I would share it here.
I like to explore every nook and cranny of any new Android OS, from the average user point of view, ever since I bought the Original Droid and back then I might have been the first to reveal the Audio Visualizer that existed for a short time on the Droid X...seen here....
http://androidforums.com/droid-x-tips-tricks/124523-native-android-audio-player-droid-x-has-visualizer.html

This morning I came across an equalizer option in the Google Play Music app

To reveal it, when in the Google Music app, and while a song is playing, or paused..... Press the Menu soft button to show these options...

Press "Sound effects" option and reveal the newness...
Turn the equalizer on and let the good times roll...

From there, press the "User" drop tab in the upper left hand corner and reveal the standard list of preset EQ options...

I still haven't found a way to operate the "Bass boost" and "3D effects" sliders yet, even going the route of disabling the audio effects and adjusting all the settings under "Audio effects" in the "System Settings" menu under the "Sound" option.

Any further help in finding a way to adjust the Bass boost and 3D effect is invited.

How do I only display contacts with phone numbers?

THIS! I want to know!

And, I've noticed an improvement in the performance of Light Flow, which makes me happy. The LED rotation is less random...

To replace the stock texting app in the lock screen with a secondary app that has been installed:
Tap Menu,
Tap System Settings
Scroll down to "Apps"
At the top, swipe right to show "All"
Scroll down to find Text Messaging
Tap on it
Tap Disable!

Now, when you go to the lock screen, your secondary app will show in its place!

Once it's disabled, don't freak out if you can't find it. It's at the very bottom of the "All" apps list!

When I disabled it I wasn't able to get MMS messages...

Anyone else have this problem?

I just tried it out. Seems like that's the case. Hope someone can figure a workaround!

My phone, using LightFlow, notified me when the MMS came in but neither Handcent or the Text Messaging app received it when the stock app was disabled. :(

..edit..

Well, it looks like you can't download MMS while on Wi-Fi. Since when!?

I don't know if I just didn't notice this before ICS, but it became aparent today. I use navigation a lot especially since I just moved to a new area. I've always been mildly annoyed by the robot voiced turn by turn instructions and I'm sure it was there as recently as last week, but today I heard a pleasantly natural female voice guiding me on my drive. I don't recal reading that this was an ICS improvement, but there she is.

Has anyone figured out how to view multiple email accounts combined by default. I found the combined email setting in the email app, but every time I go into the email app i have to select it to view combined. In GB you could use the universal message program to view all emails from multiple accounts.

Update: If you add the email widget you can select the combined mailbox, add it to your home screen. to replace the existing email app on the home screen. So now rather than it taking you to one of your email boxes and having to select each email box from the menu at the top, you can launch combined mail box and it shows you all of your email form all of your accounts in one box.

ICS has messed up one of my email accounts. So I deleted it and tried to set it up through adding an account. Everything was fine until I tried adding the port that is assigned to that account. Instructions from my cable provider clearly states to use port 25 or 245. ICS tells me it is not a trusted port and asks if I would like to proceed anyway. I select ok, and then it pops up the same message. A never ending loop asking if I want to proceed. So now I can't add the account that worked just fine with GB using those same ports. And one of my other accounts through work will also not work unless I add Google Authenticator, which give my employer the right to wipe my phone at their choosing. Again, it work fine the day before I installed ICS. ICS is a PITA. Not to mention my 4G signal strength at home has gone down from -95 dBm to near -105 dBm. I have no use for ICS.

i can't figure out how to hide the moto apps. I used to be able to long press the app and choose hide. I can no longer do that. Appreciate if anyone can let me know so my app drawer doesn't have moto "...." and other stuff I don't want to see. I can't delete them, but maybe I can not show them. thanks.

Long click on the app and then drag it up to more options, then click app info and then click disable. it will then be removed from your app tray. This works for most of the moto apps.

I have been a long time fan of launcher pro. But i do agree with you. I am currently experimenting with Go Launcher. I wish that i did not have to use a home replacement but to my knowledge there is no other way to apply themes.

Funny. I've been using Go Launcher for over a year, but now I'm completely stock. This version of Blur is Moto's best work to date, imo. The only thing I miss from GL is the scrollable dock.

Weird - I follow your instructions exactly but after I click on app info the next screen has buttons for "Force stop", "Uninstall updates", "Clear data" and "Share", nothing to disable.
