ICS. The end of Flash Player Support!?!?!!

This website actually has previous Android Versions available for download.

I have been to the Adobe Archive site, downloaded the Android 10.x and also 11.1 - they won't install. When I go to them after download, I get the installing message followed by the install failed message.

Also, can't get Google Play to Install either - I get 'no compatible devices' message when I go there, I am logged/registered in with an email address etc there.

Google Market where I can normally download/insteall from - Adobe Flash Player is nowhere to be seen!

Is this problem anything to do with Adobe's withdrawal of continuing Flash for Android?

I have a tablet - Lark Freeme 70.0 running Android 2.2 Froyo.

I did have Adobe Flash 10.3 on there but it just stopped working, so I deleted it and tried to install again from the Adobe website as above - no joy.

Just won't install after it says "installing" - no idea why, been trying all day to work it out.

I installed the Flash player from the Google Play store, then restarted my browsers (Firefox and stock browser) and went here to test: Adobe - Flash Player And it verified I had flash viewable in my browsers. In the stock browser the flash plays automatically, but in the firefox the flash doesn't play until you tap the flash item on the page to enable it.

I think this is a little more realistic of a test than trying to play a memory grabbing full south park episode on a mobile browser.

Luckily I have another GB phone in the house...

On my Rezound....yahoo sports nba plays fine on it. But not on my RAZR with ICS. I also updated Flash on the Rezound to the latest one just to see something.

I think the most realistic test is testing sites you normally go to. Funny thing is Kongregate seems to work fine....at least 1 game I tried worked fine.

They are telling you something that contradicts everything I've read. Any ICS beyond 4.0 is not supported, based off of their website. This site lists each device and OS Version supported. It says the Samsung Galaxy SIII will be supported, damn it!

The Apps don't need flash in order to function. At least I know for Netflix, I would think the others are the same except for if the app brings you to an actual browser to view content.

Adobe Developer Connection - Flash Player Certified Devices

You are correct in that what they are saying in the Play Store is that they are not supporting ICS beyond 4.0 and that in the list the Razr/Maxx are only listed up to 2.3. However, the following is what I received from Adobe:

1.) My device was recently upgraded to Android 4.x, and Adobe Flash Player no longer works

You will need to re-install Flash Player from the Android Market in order to get the binary of Flash Player that is compatible with Android 4.x devices.

a.) Open the Market application on your device
b.) Search for Adobe Flash Player
c.) Choose Uninstall, or Uninstall Updates
d.) Re-Install Adobe Flash Player

------------

2.) I installed Flash Player, but Flash content does not load

a) First, verify that Flash Player is installed and working on your system.
Check the Flash Player Version Detection page, here (the link is case-sensitive): http://adobe.ly/wRILS

b) If you see the box with version information, you have successfully installed Flash Player and will be able to view Flash content via the Android browser.

c) If you see a

Try clearing the cache for Market.
I know that is the trick to get downloads to work in Market, but doesn't work for my problem with trying to install Flash

A few moments ago for the first time ever I got Google Play to co-operate with my tablet, and it said my tablet is not compatible with Adobe Flash 11.1
- but at the Google Play website there is no other version of A F and Market has no A F any more!

The archive website above - tried to install 10.1, 10.2, 10.3 - none will install. Just get "installing" then the screen tells me installation failed ( 'Application Not Installed' )

Also - anyone know where new Apps get installed to? Is it ROM > System > App? I assume it isn't because it's the ROM (/system/app) So where do they get installed to? Also I can't create a new folder in the above or anywhere except the first screen of folders that I get when I press ROM (ie DCIM, download, Lektury, My recorder etc)

( The 4.21MB download I got from the Adobe archive went to /LocalDisk/install_flash_player-2.apk. )

I've got flash working for me. loaded a site that had flash videos and played fine, thanks for the step by step list.

Wonder how/why working for some and not others. I know when I goto Adobe's site to see if my flash player is working it checks out fine. But when I try other sites it fails. I wrote them another email though so hopefully hear back in another day or two.

South Parks site has worked with Android Flash Player all the way back to when it was first introduced on the original Droid. People go to different sites to test and some sites do work. I think it's a matter of what sites people are testing; the ones they normally go to.

Agreed.

I know stupid to ask, but is everyone running Flash 11.1.115.11 or are the ones that are working somehow have an earlier version?

Sounds to me anyone who says its working fine on ics for the razr is full of it. As the south park videos and basically most videos I've tried no longer work. They worked a day ago b4 I updated bc I checked b4 the update. My phone has taken a HUGE step back. No flash sucks. They say 4.0 is supported but on their site 4.0 is only supported on some devices. Not razr yet. I'm in love with this phone before this. If they can't fix this I'm done w/Motorola, verizon, DROID or whoever. I need flash! Wtf!

But have u tried to watch full episodes of TV shows from any big network? ABC comedy central NBC etc....? I can load the test sites fine and full websites fine but certain videos will not play. Locks up browser after getting thru advertisements . According to adobe 4.0 flash support isn't here yet for razr.

If you are having trouble with sites loading flash you can go to Settings > Advanced > Enable plug-ins and either select On Demand or Off. Either of these should solve some of the loading problems that people are talking about.

Oh how I wish that usually correct advice was all that was wrong in my case.

And still my tablet stubbornly refuses to install any version of Android Flash.

I have rebooted it, cleared Marketplace data/cache, enabled JS and plug-ins - you name it.

Downloaded Skyfire from their own site - really slows my tablet down and so have uninstalled that now.

Adobe Flash gone and uninstallable - the mystery continues

Then why would people be complaining about it not working. They obviously want it to work so why would they want to turn it off

People are talking about sites that have flash freezing their browser. Since some sites contain flash beyond video and games. I was suggesting that turning the plug-in off as an option to avoid issues. If people want to leave it on have pages freeze, that is entirely up to them and their own personal masochistic tendencies.

[...]Chrome (which is far better than stock browser) will never see Flash support either.

I don't think so...

Head to

NWS radar image loop of Base Reflectivity from Mt. Holly, NJ

(NOAA weather radar loop for Phila., PA). I just ran that in Chrome 20.0.1132.47 and right-clicked on the radar presentation. It includes
Settings
Global Settings
About Adobe Flash Player 11.3.300.257...
Sure looks like Flash Player is running under Chrome...

We return you to your ICS Flash topic, already in progress. :D

That is NOT wat is happening, when I go to a site that has a flash video on it,I click on the video and end up getting a black screen 4 the video, then it locks up the browser, have to exit out of browser n force stop to get it back working again,so it is only when trying to view a flash video. Also another scenario I keep getting is rite under a flash video it says I nd flash to view it (but flash is already installed) and does not allow me to even try to stream the video!

Ok, that is what is happening for you. It is not the same story that I am reading in other places. I was attempting to offer help to anyone having general issues with flash after the ICS update. It is there for those that can use it and to be ignored by those that don't want it.
