Any former iPhone users here?

Well, it's not like I delete songs just because they are old. Why would anyone do that? I have had an iPhone for 5 years, but even without the iPhone, those songs were bought when there was just the iPod! Apple wants like $75 to un-DRM them. I wasn't blaming google at all, that was definitely all apple.

And like I said, I'm sure there are ways to do the things that I want to do, but this is my first android, and I've had it for 3 days. Give me some time! :)

Thanks SO much for your app suggestions! Do they all work well together? Is there any visual voicemail app you'd recommend? I see AT&T has its own one...

Stay away from anything at&t. But yes, all the apps i mentioned work well together. I mentioned 'iphone notifications' app, because this will make your phone feel a little like your iphone. It has banner alerts, which looks exactly like the ones on the iphone, for any app or notification you have.
Visual Voicemail I like for my voicemail.
Zedge is a great source for notification, sms, alert and ringtone sounds.
Lightflow is the only app that currently doesn't function properly with the US version of the S3. The devs know this, we're just waiting for an update.

Good luck and enjoy.

Not a 4s user but I've had an iPhone 4 since launch day and recently bought an s3 on at&t. I loved it at first but now I'm not sure if i'll keep it. A few gripes are the battery life, I actually had to remove the percentage indicator because it was too depressing seeing how fast it goes down. I unplug it before I go to work around 9:30 and when I'm done at 7 it had dropped as low as 56% with only 46 minutes of screen time used to browse the internet, the rest of the time it was in standby. After that I put it on power saving mode and turned off the wifi and it still gets to the low 70% range. I'm fairly positive this is a result of the 4G antenna because on wifi it improves a lot but unfortunately with at&t I can't turn it off. Also if you charge over usb a lot forget about it, it's painfully slow.

The screen it seems really bright on the lowest setting when using it at night, I actually downloaded a screen filter app to artificially dim it past the lowest setting, and not bright enough when using it in sunlight. Also I noticed my screen has some small pitch black areas (about 4 spots, two 1/4 inch horizontal lines and a small circle) when viewing things that are dark while in a dark room. I've looked it up and I guess it's a common issue with oled screens. Lastly it seems to have a slight blueish tint to it.

Reception seems to be exactly the same, full bars/no bars in the same places as my iPhone but the wifi seems to not work as far. I use to hook up my iPhone to a stereo in my garage to stream music but for some reason my s3 can't even detect my router while my old phone could grab 1 bar.

Some other little annoyances are moving apps around on a full page, they don't auto reshuffle so you have to temporarily move it to a new page or put it in a folder to make an empty space then move it back once you moved your apps where you want them. Also placing an app over another one doesn't create a folder, you need to go into settings and there doesn't seem to be music controls on the lock screen. There's a few more but that's the majority.

While I like the removable storage/battery, bigger screen, customization, slimmer profile, google maps and a lot of other things, the screen and battery issues might be too much for me. I'll definitely be switching to an Android phone, I just don't think it will be the s3. I'll give it another week but I think I might stick it out with the old iPhone and wait for the next Nexus or whoever comes out with a new flagship phone.

Battery life is the biggest gripe with most phones.
There are apps that default check for updates every 15 minutes. You can change that to a few hours to improve your battery life. Background apps that keep the phone awake, WiFi, poor 4G service are a few other issues that affect the battery. But there are many tricks to cope with these issues.

Be sure to check out some of the MANY battery saving threads here and throughout the forums.

Of course you can always buy a spare battery and exchange it when you need to during the day. I've never had that issue with my two Android phones, and don't expect to with the SIII.

It's been a while since I've posted in these forums, but it seems like I'm headed back to Android.

Been through a ton of Android devices (Droid 1, 2, Incredible, Pro, Charge, and more) but none have left me satisfied. I always came back to my iPhone.

However, now I'm switching from Verizon to T-Mobile, and it seems like I won't be able to use my beloved iOS devices. The phone I will probably be purchasing is the Galaxy SIII. Any users here have a similar story to me (coming from iOS to the SIII)? Any opinions? I also have the option to opt out of data and just get a 4S as a non-data phone, since I'll have wifi everywhere in my university.

Ive come from a Jailbroken iphone 3gs which ILoved but wanted more flexibility so hence moving to Android and the SGS3 is good but the screen brigtness is a problem compared to the iphone, you just cant see it in bright sunlight and just isnt as clear as the iphone when you take it outside in general. its a real problem for me as I use my phone alot outside.
I wish I had tried one first! !!

Galaxy Note and S3 are my first Android phones (bought them at the same time) and I like them. Previous to that, I've had iPhone 3G, 3Gs, 4, 4s and Bold 9900. Hands down, S3 is better than the iPhone 4s overall BUT if the iPhone has a screen just as big as the S3 then I'm definitely getting and using iPhone. I'm still on iOS because I have the new iPad so it's not like I completely ditched iOS - I can never do that, EVER!

going from iOS to Android is like moving to another planet. I switch back and forth all the time but return to my iPhone 4S because it works so well with my iPad, etc. If you have been with Apple for a while you know it is a system that works but has few bells and whistles compared to todays new phones. The S3 is awesome but it does not have the perks of Apple yet.

I would think about leaving and say no to T-Mo and stick to Verizon

I have to whole heartedly agree here.

I've been back and forth, and yes, Apple simply works, period. I've been with my Skyrocket for about a month or so, and now with my S III since 21st June. But, often I think about my iPhone 4S.

I really wish Apple would offer a larger screened device.

Hmm, now you having me feeling like I should whip my iPhone out! At least the SIM card is the same size ;)

I would say to stick with android from now on. Even though apple has some good features on it, you will.still be amazed how many limitations there were compared to the opensourced android layout. I think you should get the s3 and give it a little time. Eventually it will far exceed anything that the iPhone can give you.

I had the Blackberry 9700 first, then the Samsung Captivate(which I loved but the battery life was terrible) and now I have the iPhone 4. I recently just bought a Motorola Razr off of Ebay and will be going back to Android. I love android OS and android phones, I just hate the battery life. My iPhone can go 2 days with medium/heavy use. I just want an Android phone that can last a day with heavy use. Hopefully the Razr can do that.

iOS is nice. It is very simple but it is also very limited.

I've gone back and forth. I just gave my wife my 4s and bought a Droid Charge to tide me over until Verizon gets me my S3. I love my iPad and my iMac and enjoyed the iPhone, but what it finally came down to for me is the size of the screen. I read a lot on my phones and the iPhone is not cutting it. I loved the quality of the hardware, but I want a bigger screen. I would like something the size of the Note, but I believe the S3 screen will suffice until Verizon gets a Note phone :) . I have been away from Android (as my daily phone) for a while. Since I bought the Charge I must say it can do almost everything I did with my iPhone. I just need to figure out how to get it automatically download my favorite podcasts. Google Play isn't cutting it. I must say I am a diehard Apple fan, but I DO NOT miss my iPhone.

Same size sim but when I go from my 4s to my G3 or G3 to the 4s, I got to call and get the plan changed or no data:(

Yip I was an iPhone 4 owner for two years and now have myself an S3, when I first got my iPhone I swore I would never own a different mobile because at the time the iPhone 4 was the best phone out there by far.

Comparing the S3 to the iPhone 4/4s - the S3 blows them away (taking nothing away from the iPhone as its a great phone but the S3 is just a different beast).

I am really enjoying the bigger screen, colour saturation makes certain aspects a lot more appealing and the widgets are awesome, the massive amount of customisation and very easy functionality that iOS doesn't have (quick example would be how easy to toggle wifi on/off). Loving the LED notification and the animated lock screen. I guess its the little things that means a lot to me.

Things I miss about the iPhone would be the type of screen it used is better but its tiny and colours do look washed out when next to one another and the battery life (The S3 battery life isn't as good but its still acceptable). No questions asked there is less little glitches and crashes on the iPhone but there hasn't been that many on the S3 that makes my opinion change too much, the best thing i've done so far is turn off double tapping the home button for S-Voice it has really made it more snappy to return to home and less crashes.

Things I don't miss about the iPhone is how difficult certain tasks are like creating your own ringtones and to be fair although I liked iTunes as you can organise your music library very neat and tidy it does restrict you in other things and certainly having to use iTunes for everything is a drawback.

Ok now I'm really nervous! I preordered my S3 yesterday, and it will be arriving on thursday due to the 4th. I have all mac products (Iphone, macbook pro, Ipad, apple tv) and wanted something different after having the Iphone since the 3g. But all of these posts are making me question whether I made the right decision! I keep telling people that besides the LOOK of the Iphone, the software has changed very little, with little add ons such as siri and changing the background finally on the homescreen.

Hopefully I won't regret my decision. :/

Use the S3 for a while, you may just love it. The S3 is like going to a different planet after using iOS. Keep your iPhone for now and see how it goes. You can return the S3 with in 30 days depending on carrier

What are those perks you are referring to? That is the worst comment. You can do everything on Android and then some, and in an easier manner, you just haven't figured that out yet.

I have had every iPhone since day one, still have the 4S, and the iPads and don't think I will ever buy another Apple product. It's all smoke and mirrors if you ask me and even when Apple adds something that Android has had for years, its like they invented it and create all this false hype and people suck it up and just buy it.

Sure waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyy back the iPhone could not be touched but those days are long gone. Give the S3 a fair chance, I have not used my 4S hardly at all since getting it.

You won't. Don't worry. This phone is great. I too used to have iPhones and then I switched to the s2. Never going back to iPhone. With their screen size and inability to allow customization it's not worth it. I love my s3 and everyone I show it to that has an iPhone is blown away. Outside, I have no trouble seeing my phone if you have the right auto brightness app set up to know you are outside. Goes right to 100%. Enjoy your phone.
