All the screen protectors I have seen people have look like hell after a short while...like you're looking through a cloud. After having my Epic screen naked for two years and being able to see everything so clearly, I am just a bit spoiled so I won't be using one. I also am very careful with my phone and after two years, it is still just like new. Not one scratch. My wife, on the other hand, is somewhat careless and her Epic has a few very light scratches from throwing it in her purse. If you are careless, then you need a screen protector for sure.

I'm not careless, just really OCD.

Well, there are people on here who has been using different types for years, have been happy with them, and apparently will continue with them. No one is right, no one is wrong.i

Since it's rigid, I would think there wouldn't be any air bubbles underneath (think pressing 2 pieces of glass together) but then again I'm not sure what the adhesive material is that holds it on. I will post pics of it when I get it. I'm very curious as well how it goes on. According to the site

"Spectre applies easily and cleanly leaving no air bubbles"

Spectre for Android | XGearlive

I decided to order it, even though the price is pretty hard to swallow for a screen protector. If it is legit, it'll be worth it. Also, I can confirm that the coupon code works.

I've got a favor to ask for those with the Spigen/SGP/Steinheil screen protector installed. I'm looking for an accurate measurement of the material. Please help.
I'm looking for the amount of usable material there is between the highest and lowest cut out. I'm guessing there is a cut out for the button and a cut out for the speaker/Front Facing Cam.
For comparison I'd also be interested in the measurements of the total protector material including the cut outs, so top to bottom. A width would be good to note as well, though the Galaxy S III screen should be a hair wider than my Evo.

I have the Evo 4G LTE (U.S. - Sprint) with Spigen/SGP/Steinheil Ultra Optics installed (self cut), but just noticed there is a new product line only for the Galaxy S III so far. The new Nano Crystal and Nano Optics. I'm interested in possibly trying to retrofit one for my device since Spigen won't be producing them for it (I'm guessing based on their past actions).

Also, since the Nano line is so new, it is hard to find reviews or comparisons to the old products, so if anyone has them installed I'd love to hear their thoughts.
Specifically the Nano Crystal, I'm wondering exactly how well it resists oils.
Specifically the Nano Optics, I'm wondering if the clarity has been increased compared to the older Ultra Optics line.

I'm willing to use my first 'like', even though I vowed not to use the 'like' system, for anyone that can help me out with the measuring. Now that's some high praise for somebuddy.
Thanks in advance

(By the way, I've asked for measurements from Spigen in the past and they will not provide them. So this scenario I've laid out above is my best/only hope)

Spigen Ultra Nano Series used a digital caliper.

Measurement between the 2 highest points (top edge to bottom edge) = 128.5 mm

Measurement between the 2 lowest points(starts from cut out of speaker to cut out of home screen) = 119.0mm

Measurement of the width = 63.5 mm

Getting my first liked would be much appreciated :D

Just ordered the SGP Ultra Nano. Got it from Amazon so i wouldn't have to pay shipping (prime) and got it quicker. Now i can just look at some screen protectors for another 10 or 11 days....

Same route I went with. Ordered Friday came on Saturday fast shipping. Installed on Sunday. Took the tips from this thread about steaming up the room by letting the hot water run for a bit to knock down the dust. Also had a small bowl of dish washing detergent mixed with warm water to wet my fingers. Had my roll of scotch tape on hand for any lint issues.

I had left the initial screen protector that came with the S3 on and was using it for about 1 week. The big words TXTING & DRIVING....IT CAN WAIT was annoying and quickly became a 15 second explanation whenever coworkers asked WTH was on my screen (was waiting for a ghost armor protector to come out for the S3). I think my patience paid off since when I removed the factory film protector my screen was lint less,oil/smudge free. I didn't have to worry about wiping down my screen and getting lint on it from the microfiber cloth.

I had already visualized/sized up where the protector was going to be placed before removing the factory film. I just wet my fingers and began peeling back the cover of the SGP film and started to get worry on what I thought I saw was lint on the adhesive side no!!! Got scotch tape to pick off the lint but it wasn't coming off until I realized lint was only on the front side *sigh of relief*

Not wanting to waste time and have lint settle on my screen I removed more the back cover and began applying the protector. Water was on the film due to my fingers tips being wet from dipping them in the bowl of soap/water and slowly peeled off more of the back protector and applied it on the screen starting from the bottom of phone to the top until it was completely on.

Then I left the front protector film and began squeegeeing the water/air bubbles towards the edges. The front film was getting fine micro scratches from the squeegee card that came with it and I didn't care since I was peeling it off when I was done. When I was satisfied with removing the water/air bubbles I removed the the protection film on the front and wow is all I can say.

Impressions no hint of orange peel or rainbow effect when viewing it with screen off and at different angles. Texture it felt sticky like a zagg film was a bit disappointed. Tempted to turn on the phone and see the display in it's entirely I resisted and left it powered off and stuck it inside the car parked outside in the sun for 2 hours.

Later in the night I had to wipe the screen down due to oily smudges that incurred during dinner. Then the texture changed to a very smooth easy glide feeling. I'm guessing the initial stickiness was just left over residue from the adhesive from the front film protector when I removed it after
squeegeeing the air water bubbles out. Still smooth this morning and really resistant against oil smudges/finger prints. I only blame the initial oil smudges during dinner due to my oily fingers while eating. Besides that incident the oil smudges/finger prints are non existent.

I'm most pleased on how the installation process went due to the great tips I read in this thread and the quality of the film is fantastic doesn't diminish the viewing experience at all. I have devices that have zag and ghost armor installed on them and this by far is the cleanest of the bunch.

Only downside it doesn't cover the entire screen and if you look on amazon's web site look at the last picture in the gallery it accurately outlines in a blue outline where the screen protector will lay when installed on the screen.

4/5 stars, 1 star docked for the lack of entire screen coverage but I knew how much it was missing before I placed the order.

treb1797 thanks for the nice welcome. I've been a lurker on this forum for about 2 months reading up on what I can. I thought I make my first post with some useful feedback.

It's nice to have my very first smart phone. I was leaning towards the i4S but have relatives who owned them and I've demoed them plenty of times. I own their tablets and other music devices. After the rather disappointing Apple WWDC 2012 news and only to confirm my belief that development has gone stagnant. Time for a change and it's been great so far.

I have the iPhone 4S and can say that the Gorilla Glass is scratchable. I don't have a screen protector on it and have a couple small superficial scratches on it. Nothing major but no matter what videos you find, daily use can lead to scratches "sometimes".

I already ordered a screen protector for the S3.

one problem with this statement though, the iphone 4s is not gorilla glass. Apple got some other company to make a variant of it. The iPhone 4S does not use Corning Gorilla Glass - MacRumors Forums - as referenced here,

and my boss shattered his Iphone 4S screen with a gold wedding band (no diamonds so don't go there) while tapping on it ever so gently during a conference call; I was in the room and we all fell silent when we heard it break and he shouted some explictives.

Please let us know how it goes once you get it installed, I might be interested in purchasing one if it's like having the naked screen, I'm still curious as to how that glass is going to wrap around the curved screen though

I use the same Rearth protectors that T35rk, posted a link to above and highly recommend them.
the gorilla glass is highly unlikely to get scratched in your pocket by keys or coins ect... but a screen protector can really come in handy with drops. For instance i dropped my DX2 from about 6' and the middle of the screen bounced off the sharp corner of a concrete step heading up to my front porch. I watched it happen and immediately figured the screen was done for, it actually looked like a chip was out of the screen. But I peeled back the screen protector, which actually had a hole through it from the impact, and there was nothing wrong with the screen on the phone what so ever. I've read in situations like that, screen protectors can actually strech out and absorb the energy of the impact as opposed to the screen of the phone absorbing the hit.

Ya know, I've talked to many friends who swear they dont have any scratches (and dont use protectors), and in a matter of a fraction of second of picking their phone up, I find fine hairline scratches (yeah, I'm alot of fun at parties LOL). GG holds up very well... and is quite tough, but really, a particle of sand between your finger and the glass, you may not notice, but its scratched. in a year or so, you might have enough to notice.

OK so.. Steinheil Ultra Nano.. Just got them. I'm familiar with all their products, excluding the new glass ones.

the Ultra Nano is really really thin (about 1/3 of others, at 5mil). It's got a surprisingly high difficulty for installation, and I'm really good at these... I can lay down an iPad sheet without a bubble or repositioning (yes, I'm bragging about it LOL). Not only do you have to line up the notches and watch the rounded corners of the glass, but its very flimsy and doesn't hold its shape as you lower it down on the screen like some others. I always use tape to position a screen protector. I put a tab on each corner and lower it down. Well, the ultra nano will fold and stick, making it alittle more complicated. Add to that, its very very thin, so if you lay it down and need to reposition, you must take great care not to crease it.

that said, its very quality material.. optics are awesome. Feel... eh.. gonna take some getting used to. My last Stienheil were the Ultra Crytal on a Note. these Nanos have a bit more resistance than the Crystal and Oleophobic line. Then again, maybe my hands are just dry right now.

did you use any type of solution/water on your fingers when you applied the film?

Or did you just peeled it off and applied it on dry?

No water solution is required for this protector but I was paranoid about finger prints so I wet my finger tips when laying down the film and that provide just enough lube to lay it down smoothly. I didn't have to readjust at all since I spotted where exactly the film will be placed before removing the film.

The product description does mention the rather strong adhesive edges to prevent the edge from lifting over time.

On the issue of resistance wipe down the film with a safe gently glass cleaner I use my eye glass cleaner solution and apply it on a microfiber cloth and then wipe down the protector. It became noticeable smoother after I did that and I would attribute that to left over adhesive residue from the film protector film after you peel off the "front" side screen sticker.

+1. I used iKlear to wipe it down and the difference was amazing. When compared to just the glass, there is only a very slight difference. I have 2 S3's and was able to compare directly. Visually, you can not tell it is there unless you look at the edges very close up(but not at normal usage distance).

This does not make me happy, especially since it is designed to be a user install item.

I just purchased this based on all the raves about this company. They only make this and the flex, aka wet apply type, right?

Have you (or anybody) used this wrap before on previous phones?

I am curious about how it says it helps prevent damages from drops up to 6 feet. My biggest fear is shattering my screen but I also am not wanting a big case on my phone this time around (but was planning on a Steinheil no matter what).

This sounds almost too good to be true but would love to hear any experiences with the product.

I had a full Zagg wrap on my Blackberry. It fell off the roof of the car at about 60mph. I had a cheap rubber case on it too. When it hit the asphalt, it was spinning, the rubber case flew off immediately. Battery cover came off next. Battery flew a ways too. I stopped the car and gathered up the pieces, reassembled and voila, it worked fine. The Zagg was scuffed on the corners, but the phone was fine.

So I'm not sure if I want the full coverage Steinheil Flex screen protector or the Ultra Nano which is cut down.

From experience or what people have read, which one is having more of the problems adhering because of the curved glass of the S3? And how much is the Nano cut down...would a lip of a phone cover just protect that area anyway? On the flip side, maybe the lip of a cover would just push up the screen protector's edges and work against me? Ah so confused.
