Any former iPhone users here?

...same here and it really gets on my nerves! A simply process over the phone seems to take at least 20-30 minutes!?! Honestly.

AT&T NEEDS to let us do it over the internet. I could cange my own IMEI and plan. Some of these people are clueless! I still got the unlimited plan and on a recent change the dropped me to the 3gb plan. It took a month to have them change it back!

Ive come from a Jailbroken iphone 3gs which ILoved but wanted more flexibility so hence moving to Android and the SGS3 is good but the screen brigtness is a problem compared to the iphone, you just cant see it in bright sunlight and just isnt as clear as the iphone when you take it outside in general. its a real problem for me as I use my phone alot outside.
I wish I had tried one first! !!

this has been a torn in my side for the last couple of days is the discovery of how poorly the S3 displays when viewed outside. This is the only Achilles heel that I'm trying to shake on the S3. I'm turning off auto-brightness & maxing out brightness setting something I never do on my screens like laptops, tablets, and past phones just to trying to convince myself this is not really that bad.

Then one glance at a buddy's 4S screen and amazed how visible and easy it is look at when outside. Sure the S3 has the bigger screen, cleaner fonts, and border/frame details look sharper than the 4S but I have to admit the white background display on the 4S just shames the S3 display.

I don't have battery drainage issues, lag issues, etc with the S3 just my outside display complex I'm trying to shake off.

This isn't a problem in the UK as we never get any bright sunlight. :(

Getting my Verizon S3 on Friday and starting the 14 day return countdown. I really want it to work. The IP4 is great. I use it with a Juice Pack Air, so I have 2800 maH available. If the S3 works flawlessly( like the IP4) in my car(Benz), then it has a real chance of staying. The 2100 maH battery should last the whole day, I hope. I don't have 4G in my area yet, but rumors are it should be here in the 4th quarter. I am looking forward to the big screen and some custom features. I've already gotten my 32GB card to go with the 32GB phone. A big stepup from the 16GB IP4. The camera in the S3 is also a big upgrade. So we shall see. I also have to figure the Jelly Bean factor, hopefully coming in a few months.

Went from a iphone 3g to the SGIII, so its quite a huge step in performance, my SGIII is currently being "repaired" and im having to use my old 3g, this is not the 3gs but the version before that, wich meant that when i got above ios 3 everything went to shit, everything runs soo damn slow on it.

The one thing that struck me the most is how small the iphone suddently feels and how insanely better the screen on the galaxy is.

Im no fanboy of either OS, i love the freedom in android, but i do actually also like the iOS interface, say what you want but it does work.

Build quality there isnt that much to say, the SGIII i have in blue looks amazing, i tend to drop my phone once in a while and i am a bit worried it might not be the most durable phone, my iphone could take a beating like no other phone ive had, 2 weeks into the iphone i dropped it on asphalt, where i proceeded to slide down a small hill on the glass, not a scratch on it, except a small dent in the plastic.

Thats all i can say, why people love to hate either is beyond me, i liked my iphone for what it was and im sure ill love my SGIII when i get it back.

LMAO, brilliant post...

Albeit, I'll be keeping my iPad II for now. I do want to know how to convert my movies from .mp4 to some other format to allow it to play on my Android device.

For those on the fence and switch all the time- the best solution is to get one of each- one android, one iOS device. iPad/GS3, iPhone/Transformer Prime, whatever.

The bottom line is that ICS is not going to be as smooth or as reliable (think pulling the battery, freezes now and then) as iOS. Jelly Bean could be a different story. BUT don't delude yourself into thinking, "Well I'm gonna get the GS3, wait for the Jelly Bean update and Christmas will come early for me." You will really hate Android then. You should think that your OS version is as permanent and fixed as the processor in your Android phone. And if you want to upgrade, you need to buy a new phone. Really. The waiting for the update will kill you.

Obviously, if you plan to root and install a custom Jelly Bean ROM, then disregard everything I just said. But for those users who don't want anything to root, remember, OS version=processor in terms of upgradability. I'm not saying it's impossible to the the OS update, but you've got the same chances of getting Jelly Bean as you have of winning the lotto.

So if you are considering the GS3 or any Android phone, evaluate it as if there is no new OS upgrade and that you will never get a major OS upgrade. If you love the GS3 as is, ICS and all, then definitely buy the phone. If you love the GS3, but really want Jelly Bean and don't want to root, then wait for a JB phone.

I had the Blackberry 9700 first, then the Samsung Captivate(which I loved but the battery life was terrible) and now I have the iPhone 4. I recently just bought a Motorola Razr off of Ebay and will be going back to Android. I love android OS and android phones, I just hate the battery life. My iPhone can go 2 days with medium/heavy use. I just want an Android phone that can last a day with heavy use. Hopefully the Razr can do that.

iOS is nice. It is very simple but it is also very limited.

The razr series can do it the maxx for sure if u definitely wanted +1 days battery life u should get a maxx I would've gotten one if it wasn't just for Verizon

nice post but incorrect on some points its other ways in Android to improve your phone and performance without having to wait on carrier updates one word root after that u can truly do what u like to your already powerful Android device

I'm really nervous and excited. My GS3 is scheduled to be delivered tomorrow. I have tried so many other phones and have always gone back to my iPhone. I think it boils down to familiarity. I know how to do things on my iPhone without struggling. I've have a 3gs, a 4 and now a 4s. The other phones I've had have been a Captivate, Blackberry 9800, GS2 (closest to iPhone performance without a doubt and the only one I wish I'd kept), Blackberry 9810 and a Lumia 900 (loved the OS but the camera was horrid). I guess I'm just bored with iOS. My phone is even JB and I'm still bored. Plus, I realy want a bigger screen. I'm not at all excited about the rumors of a taller iPhone screen (keeping the same width) on the next iteration of iPhone. Nothing about iOS6 excites me either. I pray the GS3 is the Android that will finally liberate me from my iPhone dependence!

Picked up one today at AT&T and I'm really enjoying it. I've heard some people say it's too big in the pocket but I haven't found that to be true. In fact my IPhone (4s) felt heavier in my jeans. You can't feel the GS3 at all. The screen is gorgeous but a bit on the dim side. In bright environments you can't see your screen as well as the I4 or other phones but to me it's not that big of a problem unless you're outside a lot.

I haven't had time to really play with it but I can say that Apple better step it's game up on the next Iphone. Apple has a knack for making quality phones but with Android and even Windows stepping the game up a bit in the last year the playing field is evening out.

Oh, really...

I'll copy a movie from my iTunes library to my S III and see what happens.

As an experiment I converted a 16 minute WMV video (1.1 GB) to MP4 and 3GP formats. The result was MP4 = 80 MB and 3GP = 60 MB. If you had long video to load you'd be better off with 3GP. Using AllShare Play it took about 40 seconds to go from my PC to my SGS3.

...thanks for checking that. I typically just connect via a USB cable to my pc, and let it do its thing. I've not tried the AllShare yet.

Also, I typically buy DVDs with a Digital version in the case. I then place it in my pc, and allow iTunes to 'download' it. I wonder if those now have a sort of DRM of sorts, and thus will not play on my S III. I guess we'll soon see.

Pros of S3
+LTE
+big screen
+good looking
+live wallpapers, WIDGETS, better notification bar
+love the google maps/gps. Really good.
+love how everything is sync'd to your gmail account
+flash support- still recommend watching youtube videos on the youtube app, but good to see a webpage and not a bunch of nothing.
+removable battery
+expandable storage
+NFC & tectiles
+back is plastic so it's more secure

Negatives
-OS is already dated (Jelly Bean time!) and will likely stay that way for at least another 1/2 year if you're lucky. If you're unlucky, by this time next year you will still be on Ice Cream Sandwich, still waiting for Jelly Bean with no official word yet from Google or Samsung, with newer phones coming out with Key Lime Pie.
-can be laggy at times, freeze, and restarting/pulling battery is a technique you will master
-still not as wide a selection of apps vs. iTunes
-switching over, all your drm-protected iTunes music and apps are worth squat
-still new, don't know if there will be problems, ala GPS fiasco?
-iPhone has more accessories

For me it's a toss up. I switch between wanting to buy the GS3 now and waiting until the iPhone 5 comes out. With the GS3's OS already dated, I'm gonna wait till the iPhone 5 comes out to 1) see what that's all about 2) see if the GS3 will get Jelly Bean and 3) if not, what other flagship phones with Jelly Bean are available. I like iOS 6, it's got some interesting features. If the iPhone 5 doesn't wow me and I know the GS3 will not get Jelly Bean that quickly, maybe I can hope for a Verizon Galaxy Note 2 with Jelly Bean....

do you really think ios6 is gonna as powerfull as ics? boy you truly have no idea of what ics can really do. trust me ios6 is not touching ics. now way.:smokingsomb:
