I have a Galaxy S3. Its a great device on many levels. However - its most basic function is challenged. When I call people OR people call me the complaint is they can't hear me?

My hand is not covering the microphone.

And if I switch to the speaker phone function it works great - both parties hear fine. Sadly a speakerphone is not usable everywhere so ...

In looking on line I found a 'trick' for the S2 ("Setting the mic input level while the 'Noise Reduction' is turned off".) but the dial pad entry does not activate the menus mentioned in this article. I suspect it was a different OS running the S2 at the time then the S3 now??

Short of returning the unit - any relevant suggestion increasing the microphone's sensitivity/pickup is really appreciated.

Many thanks in advance for your kind assistance.

I am having the same problem on my SGS3.
I was told that you are holding your hand over the mic again! that is why i have been very carefull not to cover the mic. and i am no.
if you buy one of the most expensive phones on the market, you ekspect the phone to be able to make a phonecall where people can hear you all the time, and not just some times.
I dont se why this problem is not all over the web?
need help plz. don't have the money to buy new phone, and i realy like SGS3 other funktions :(

The position of the mic is quite unhandy.. Calling works fine, but holding it with both hands, results rubbing against the mic with your pink. That's one of the reasons dirt gets in there.
Nobody heard me, I cleaned the Mic hole with high care. Be carefull with this!! Run your voice recorder and record the cleaning. As you are cleaning the mic hole and making tests the Mic will function as brilliant as it was!! Hope this helps for you guys! :D
