Accessories - what have you found?

Upvote 0
Just went on a 14 hour road trip and discovered that my Iconia A500 tablet is a great "accessory" for my EVO. Just plugged my phone in via the standard usb that breaks off of the wall charger. The phone stays fully charged no matter how much you use it. Best of all, you can still make use of the tablet for games/movies etc if you don't have the same ones on your phone or want the bigger screen. Still had 19% battery left on the tablet at the end of the trip and a fully charged phone.

I'd be careful with the cases with the large cutout for the full dual camera section on the back. IMO it's better to get the cases that cover everything on the back except for the actual cameras themselves, the speaker, and the dual LED flash for better protection. Just throwing that out there.

The S-shape cases most recently being discussed do cover everything but the cameras/speaker/flash, just for reference if anybody was curious. :)

I purchased these and I'm very happy with them:

Twin-Pack Custom Fit Screen Guard Protector For HTC Evo 3D Shoot

The screen protector went on with no trouble at all, the bubbles all smoothed out just fine and the texture is just like the glass. The only thing I don't like is that it doesn't lay *quite* flat near the camera switch and shutter button so there's a little perma-bubble there - I think next time I might shave the tiniest sliver off of the right-hand side before applying.

TPU Rubber Skin Case for HTC EVO 3D, Frost Dark Purple S Shape

This case is somewhere in between a soft case and a hard one. Adds very little bulk and looks great. I love the texture along the sides, makes it very hard to drop. The camera areas are pretty well protected, too (and I LOVE that the shutter button is no longer sticking out like a sore thumb - the case cuts away deeper in the back, allowing for easy pressing, but is sleek and straight along the front so the button isn't so "out there"). I got the purple one because I have the plum Evo, and they complement each other very well. Comes in black or white as well if you prefer that.

All in all, not bad considering both together were ~$5 shipped total!
I just ordered mine how are you liking it.

How are the S shaped TPUs? I'm probably picking one up soon if enough people seem to favor them.

I really like mine as well. It seems very durable thus far, and it doesn't add much bulk at all! The softish/hardish texture is good too, because it feels good in your hand like a soft case does, without any of the drawbacks of a soft case (lint, hard to put into pocket, getting misshapen, etc).

I didn't like the texture along the sides at first, but as I've used it more I've gotten used to it and now I really appreciate how much better it makes my grip!

A little update for my eco v. i have the HTC silicone case for 2 weeks, its nice and feels great on hand. Even holding my phone like almost 90 degree, it still not slip off my hand. Other than that I went to the near mall and had the "ghost armor" screen protector on. Although it cost 25 bucks, but I think its worth it. For the first week I have it on, there were still some particals underneath the protector with they told me it should be gone within 24 hours of installation. So I went back there and they get me a new one on without charging because I'm still in the 7 days. Another good thing is if the protector has any problem, you can go to the store and ask for new for $5 with installation if you have a account in their data base which is your phone number.
Hope this can help someone out :)

I got the HTC OEM car kit, mainly for the car charger because it's pretty much the same price as the whole kit on ebay. And the charger works for my phone great, but it doesn't charge my iPod at all...The charger has 2 USB ports and the one I had before was underpowered so it didn't work for phones very well, but at least it could charge both the phone and the iPod. But the the iPod doesn't even recognize being plugged into the HTC brand one. Anyone else have this issue?

Edit: I tried switching the iPod cable, and even bought a new one. Still doesn't work. And all of the cables work fine with the old charger.

Does anyone have any experience with a case like this:

HTC EVO 3D Hard Shell Case with Holster - Original OEM 70H00431-00M

I'm just concerned about the case interfering with my car and desktop docks. Any thoughts?

Thanks.

This case looks like the Seidio case to me especially the holster. Seidio make a dock with a removable cutout to deal with the additional thickness of their cases. It's $20-30 for desk and $30-40 for car dock. There's a nice approx $10 car dock with removable insert to deal with cases that works with the Seidio case. I have one but can't think of the brand name. Just remember, iGrip and its in this thread. I don't know of a cheap desk dock that can deal with any case.

The TPU S-shape case has already been discussed at length, you may want to check the older posts in this thread. :)

The iPod uses a USB connector but doesn't follow the USB spec which limits the current provided to 500ma or half an amp. The iPod wants a full amp (1000ma) or more. The HTC charger probably only supplies the 500 ma per spec for that second port.

I haven't tested the voltage coming out of the charger, but the HTC one is definitely putting out more power than my old car charger because my phone recognizes it as an AC power source instead of USB and charges much faster, and even charges while using navigation whereas on my old charger the battery would still drain while plugged in and using navigation. And my iPod charged fine with the old charger but doesn't recognize it's plugged into the HTC one. I ordered a micro usb to Apple dock connector adapter, I don't know if it'll fix the problem, but I figured it was worth a shot.
