Galaxy Nexus Watering Hole

Question for you nova launcher users: I got the free version but I am thinking of dropping the four bucks for the prime version. Since I got burned by one louder apps for tweet caster (in app purchase) I decided I would just buy from the market.

Now, if I save my settings in the free version of nova launcher, and buy prime, will I be able to keep things the way I have them now, or will I have to manually tweak everything again? Or do they just send me a key or serial number or something?

Also, if I decide to load up some jellybean goodness, will I be able to save my currant setup to use on JB?

Not sure about the first part of your question. But I would think they would carry over from free to to prime.

As for the second part. I flashed JB 2.4 and restored nova prime and everything was set up the way I wanted it.

Forgive me, for this question may have already been beaten to death, but I cannot find a straight answer.

Verizon customers: I have an HTC Incredible which uses 3G with the Unlimited Data Plan (UDP) and am wanting to upgrade to the Nexus which has 4G LTE. Is it possible to keep my UDP if I buy the Nexus (or any 4G LTE phone) used and activate it myself? Do I have to buy it straight from Verizon at full retail to keep my UDP? Or will I have to switch to a tiered data plan regardless if I want to upgrade from a 3G to any 4G LTE device?

Orry, if you purchase the phone outright - either from Verizon or the web - FULL RETAIL, you can keep your unlimited data. Activate it via Verizon's toll-free number... not the phone itself! Just to make sure they do not change your plan.

Unlimited data will be retained as long as you either (a) never change phones again; or (b) never buy another SUBSIDIZED phone from Verizon. You must pay full retail and buy it outright from now on.

You can also try Swappa, a great place to buy gently used, high-quality phones :)

I forgot about this. Nokia had a good OS(Megoo) going that very close to being used and then they scraped it to partner with MS.

Some ex-employees have decided to continue the project and bring it back to life. The guy heading it was leading engineer of the OS. They might have a problem with the rights to "swipie" UI?

 Wait, what? So on JB, native tethering works? That's awesome.

Wait, I'd also like to know this!
I'm actually using PDANet since either our router is screwed up or Comcast is down (tried resetting it last night, but gave up).

Morning everyone! My lovely wife actually got everything packed for me (always think of Macauley Culkin from Home Alone) yesterday so I got home late and tired and didn't have to do much. Just one last day of work and we're on our way to stay with family friends in VA. Our flight leaves out of Dulles at 7am (ugh) and they live about 25 min from the airport so it'll be nice. Can't wait! Hoping my N7 will be delivered and waiting for me when I get back. :D

Morning folks. Hope you all had a good weekend!

Having a slight problem on the Nexus that I've had before but can't really tell you how I fixed it, it just stopped. Maps is draining my battery pretty good, especially on cellular data. Keep awake times are pretty high considering I haven't used Maps for anything lately. In the 30-45 minute drive from home to work, I lost 10% battery and Maps keep awake was around 5 minutes and GPS for 3 minutes. Like I said, have had this creep up before, but no clue how it got resolved.

Yes it is. Not that I need it very often, but when I do... it's there :)

Yes! It works with no added apps - set up & go.

Have a great, safe trip Dread & Mrs. Dread! :D

Good morning all - hope everyone had a good weekend. Nice and relaxing for me, good times spent with some friends and even went to the fair in NJ.

Started the redesign of my Weight Watchers app - nothing too drastic, just cleaning it up a lot and working on getting it to ICS/JB design standards. Let me know what you think so far - planning on doing the Tracker tab tonight. Forgot how much I enjoy doing Android development.

You on ICS ROM or a JB ROM? If JB, which version?

I hate the people that work here, specifically managers. They require you to have these design review meetings where they grill you and ask dumb questions that aren't relevant to your design. You have to have them before you can "issue" the package. They are the ones that also tell you when you have to "issue" the packages and give you these deadlines you have to meet...but when it comes time for the meetings, they are nowhere to be found.

Thanks svt!

Hmmm never heard of Maps keep awake's on ICS ROMs, but isn't M6 out? Did you flash that yet or give it a shot?

Yeah, I noticed M6 is out last night. Haven't had time to flash it yet. I had similar issues on previous versions of AOKP as well but it would only do it after being installed for several weeks then it would just happen out of nowhere.

My only thought would be to uninstall Maps and re-install from the Market or clear cache/data and see if it goes away.

Only other thing you can try was what fixed the Maps bug in the early JB ROMs.

To remedy this, Download Faster GPS by pSoftware from the Play Store, and Force Close Maps in settings. Next, Turn on the the GPS tweak (only option) in Faster GPS, and then open up Maps. Next, click the button that symbolizes "FInd my location" and allow it to completely lock. It will telly you when it's done in the Statusbar. After having a successful lock, back out of everything using the "Back" key, until you end up at your homescreen. Now turn the screen off and wait 3 minutes. After 3 minutes, turn screen on open up CPU Spy (or your app of choice) and hit refresh. Profit.

It must be some secret class they all take in Engineering Management, cause its the exact same here where I work

I'm beind the times, again.

I just downloaded the aokp milestone 6. The downloads, wipe went fine, but I find it takes me 3-6 hours to finish "set up". I have to reinstall all apps from play, reboot them, launch my exchange provider, Touchdown, then download a months worth of mail, and 2500 contacts.

You people surely aren't doing this every time are you? Is there some "super backup" program, that does this stuff for you?

It's not hard, just time consuming, and frankly, I'll only flash new rom's every year if I have to do this every time.

Is there a different way around this because it seems like I "start from scratch" every time.
