WOW! Now that's an 11th hour and HAIL MARY for sure.

My daughter and I have been messing around with ours since Friday evening. It's been a pleasure to use with favorable connectivity that just about matches my HTC INC which went above and beyond when it came to reception. You will not regret playing with the S3. A stunning display for sure.

Here is my unboxing photo:

Haha... the best part is I will be spending the next 8 days in Nebraska with no 4g:p I won't even be able to test the 4g connectivity until I get back to Denver on 7/16.

Didn't you try the fedex tracking trick out? Order Location > Order Number

so it should be like A123456_001234567 (A123456 = order location) (1234567 = order number) from your pre order email?

That's how I figured out mine without getting my tracking info, setup email alerts and so when something changes it will notify me.

I did. But it doesnt mean anything. Ive seen reports of dates changing and tracking numbers changing. Looks like my phone didnt ship out Friday and I have no idea when I might get it.

Welcome to my world! I live in a rural area with mountains, valleys, streams, rivers, birds and all of that other tree hugging crap. I moved here 20 years ago and don't regret it one bit. I'll take solace over 4G any day. My S3 is a 4G virgin for now. 4G is about 40 minutes from me so soon I'll get to test drive it. I better get my SGP Nano protection on it soon before it fornicates with 4G signals.

I made the mistake of going to a newly opened Verison Wireless Premium store that just open near my house. I was even willing to pay more in sales tax on the phone than if I ordered in online. Below is the harsh reality of my mistake:

My Order
Blue 16 GB ordered 6/11
just got the email today that it will be dropped off at the store 7/11

The worst part is that after talking to my wife about much better this phone is going to be, both having the HTC Incredible she decided to get one:

Her Order

White 16GB Ordered online 6/25
Got her email yesterday and it will be her on 7/10

Two pre-orders done two weeks apart and she will have hers before mine. = Me :p = Her

I am going to have to consider this a life lesson to NEVER pre-order a phone from someone that uses the word "Premium" in the store name to hide just how low they are in the pecking order.

Hopefully she lets me play with her phone while I wait another day.

I found out that FedEx has what they call a "Release Delivery Authorization and Indemnification Agreement for Recipients" form. You can file one with FedEx and it authorizes them to leave packages without a signature. BUT.....

In the wording of this document it says "a package that does not have a declared value greater than US $100 may be released......". I doubt new phones would qualify as valued under $100. So it wouldn't help here. Looks like leaving the signed note is the best option. I like Hal1's idea of writing the note on a copy of the tracking info web page, so they know you are authorizing that package in particular.

wow, today the package went from picked up, to "in transit," on overnight shipping. is there any way the package makes it from memphis to SoCal by tomorrow afternoon?

Anybody have any experiences with this to share?

yes it definitely can, Fedex has many airplanes and its probably on a plane right now.....it is absolutely insane how fast they can move things

FWIW, I stopped buying phones in actual Verizon stores (I've stuck with Verizon for years - best signal where I travel) many years ago when I learned I could order online. I'd much rather talk to my PC than to a Verizon rep. The last few times I had talked to them no one could answer my questions anyway. I haven't noticed it lately, but they also used to offer an additional discount for ordering online. It's a win-win in my eyes.

IMO, it should start from when you activate the phone, because before that you can't do anything with it anyway. You might want to ask another CS rep just to see what they say. From what I've read in this whole thread, VZW CS reps are about on par with chimps when it comes to what they know.

It should but we all know how verizon is. I got various answers 1 rep said when you activate it the other said when it ships. Guess I will have to ask verizon tomorrow when I receive the phone.

Wow, relax man! Everything is going to be okay. It's just a phone. You'll have 10 days to test it. More than enough

I'm plenty relaxed, has nothing to do with it but the fact they say 14 days they should make it in their terms is less if you order it online. Phone or not I do not want to get screwed with another shit reception samsung phone. Sorry I do not like wasting $$ maybe you do.

Yeah but what you'd do is use the phone for months without activating it (wifi phone) and then return it when the next big phone comes out.

I also stopped going to their stores to buy phones, i used to but its awkward plus they mistreat your phone, many times i seen them put the phone face down in harsh way take out the packaging and making a mess while they are "activating" the phone just feels wrong , they don't care since it aint their phone but you cant say much since its not yet your phone.

getting it on the mail much better you unboxe it carefully at the comfort of your home no rush you activate it and you can really take your time with out the rush you get at the store.

one negative from the whole mail system ... pre ordering a new phone the whole waiting period, i didn't know it was this bad when i got my droid X on pre-order i went on a Thursday at 2 am online , pre ordered and by Friday morning there it was at my doorstep(24hrs)this whole fiasco with the S3 is weird and new to me.

HOLY COW!!

I started having my doubts when I got a fedex tracking was updated this afternoon and it said it was still sitting in the memphis fedex station at 1:52pm. So I had my doubts about it being delivered by tomorrow afternoon.

I just check the fedex tracking and it just got updated and said it arrived in oakland at 3:28pm...just 45mins from me :)

Things are looking good.

People dont realize that WHERE their fedex package is has NOTHING to do with WHEN they will be receiving it. Fedex moves fast and sometimes the packages location seems illogical but they have a system particularly with large volume products. Don't try to predict delivery based on current location been there done that

I have all my deliveries sent to my work, alway someone there to sign. i also ship from there , it's cheaper.

I used to do that too, but where I work now it would probably take 2-3 days to make it to my mail location. lol

I'm also going the route of printing the tracking page and writing my note on that - should be my best chance.
