I used to do that too, but where I work now it would probably take 2-3 days to make it to my mail location. lol

I'm also going the route of printing the tracking page and writing my note on that - should be my best chance.

Before this job i would just pick up package in the evening. all my good neighbors work during the day and the rest well, not a good idea to leave anything out that cost more than a dollar.

I have an activation question. My GS3 will be arriving later today and I currently have a Galaxy Nexus. When I placed my preorder for the GS3, I transferred an upgrade from another line since my line was still under contract. When I went through the checkout process, I was able to keep my unlimited data, and I have screenshots to prove it.

But I want to make sure I activate properly. If I log onto my account at verizonwireless.com, it shows that the OTHER line it waiting activation, not my line. I assume that's because of the upgrade transfer, but does this mean I will have to activate the phone on THAT line first and then switch it back to mine? Or is that just a placeholder and it will still activate on my line?

I guess when I get the phone, the sheet should show which phone number it's assigned to. But should I take my Galaxy Nexus sim card out and put it in the GS3? When I placed the preorder, it asked if I wanted to keep my current sim, and I said Yes. However, now that I think about.... if I use my Gnex sim and it gets activated on the OTHER line, then i might mess up my unlimited data. I'm thinking unless I can be sure that it's assigned to MY number already, I might want to activate with a new sim card and then assign it to mine afterwards. On the other hand, if I put in my Gnex sim card, won't it automatically assign it to MY number?

Not sure how all that works... anyone else do an upgrade transfer for this phone? How did you activate?

Thanks!

Stupid verizon lady told me I had next day shipping. Clearly she lied.

Finally got tracking info yesterday after my card was charged on the 5th.

It will be here Wednesday. I pre-ordered on the 12th.

Verizon still delivered on their 9th ship date so I can't be mad. Just makes no sense that some folks ordered on the 22-26th and already have their phones.

I think I am done with the Best Buy preorders. Sure, they may be getting strung along by VZW, and VZW might choke them out of launch supply to cover their own, but THAT seems the problem. Best Buy seems a helpless and hapless middleman.

Do not let any BB person kid you, since they have NO clue about when the GS3 will be at stores until the day of receipt (especially drop ships). To make matters worse, 32gb orders could be SOL for a while beyond that.

Does any rational person think that if VZW are hurting on 32gb supply, they will not let their own stores and preorders get first dibs? This IS Verzon we are talking about.

Alright, now I'm getting a bit nervous (and as equally anxious). My card was charged Friday and yet I have not received my "official" tracking number (I managed to scrounge one up using the reference number trick posted in this thread). My order status on Verizon's page says it will ship tomorrow, but the FedEx label indicates that it should have shipped on Friday with delivery today.

I ordered on 6/20 around 9am EST and it's a bit disheartening reading a great number of user posts indicating they had order after this date yet received their units or will today :(

Edit: Also for those who have questions regarding indirect signatures, you have a few options.

1. Sign the door tag left by the driver AFTER the first attempt to deliver. You'll obviously have to wait another day but you won't have to go out of your way to pick it up at the local depot.

2. You can also request the package be delivered to your local FedEx store. I had three other phones delivered last week using this method and it's not only extremely convenient (depending on where you are located) but they keep all packages locked up.

3. Create a note (handwritten or typed) indicating that you relinquish any and all responsibility from FedEx if they are willing to leave your package (this should be done on the day of delivery). I would suggest signing the note as well. This has worked 90% of the time for me; something tells me it might also be dependent on the driver.

If all else fails, you can always pick up the device at the local sorting facility. The address and time it will be available for pick-up will be noted on the door tag left after the first failed attempt of delivery.

I see no problem what vzw is doing vzw stores/ vzw pre-rders come first. Not 3rd party sorry man thats fair.

HEY! When you get the phone DONT activate it!!! It WILL activate under the number you upgraded NOT the number you want. I am doing the same thing as you, I was told to go right into a Verizon store w/ my UNACTIVATED device so that they can switch it to the correct number in the system! I know going into a Verizon store sounds like the worse thing ever, but just let them do the work.. and hopefully not **** up! Or try calling from another handset.

Just don't try to activate right out of the box, it will activate to the original upgrade number!

I transferred the upgrade from my wife's line (iphone 4) to mine. I was also asked if i wanted a new SIM and i said no. I checked online and kept my unlimited data and saw the same thing you see. I got my phone on Friday, dropped my SIM from my Maxx and it activated on my number with no problem.

This is not true, my S3 is up and running with no effects on my wife's line i moved the upgrade on.

on the fexex site , does it ever tell you it its already out for delivery? or does it just ship and you gotta wait all day?

Tracking information will be as detailed as possible. It will DEFINITELY inform you if your device is currently out for delivery, along with the time the local sorting facility information as well as the time it went out for delivery.

Well as far as I was told I can't activate, I need to go in-store. I don't want to mess it up and have to wait another day for an activated phone, so i'm gonna play it safe and let them make sure it all activates correctly. Also I dont want some bullshit fee for the other line somehow activating (its a basic phone) and getting an additional data charge... that's already happened to me once with Verizon and alternate upgrades...

With Verizon, it seems everything is a case by case basis... :(

Okay, thanks. I suppose the "safest" thing to do is take it to the store to activate. But technically, it *should* be assigned to the number you upgraded TO, not the number you used the transfer FROM. But it threw me off a bit when I logged in and it said the other line was waiting for activation. But I think that just means the actual transfer doesn't go through until you activate the phone: it should still know that I'm assigning the new phone to MY number. And since you were able to do this without issue, I may give it a try (I have screenshots of my whole checkout process in case something goes wrong, I can show them).

So just to clarify, I should be able to simply take the sim out of my Galaxy Nexus (which I have on my line right now) and pop it into my GS3 without issue? I really don't want to activate it on the other line because it's a family member that doesn't live in the same household as me and it would be a pain to get her phone and do a double activation.

Thanks!

Do you have a SIM on your current phone? I thought I read there were problems with people moving from a 3G to a 4G phone but people with SIM cards were dropping them in with no problem.
