Verizon Pre-order, Release date, and speculation thread

I called the number needed to activate your SIM card before turning on your phone, entered my number and billing account password, prompt said it didn't work and transferred me. Girl checked for me and said that the phone can't be activated on the network until midnight. It's a thing with the network she said.

Which doesn't make sense seeing everyone on here saying they can use it. I don't know what the hell people are talking about when they register online. You have to call a number to activate your SIM card...

Definitely doesn't sound like she knows what she is doing. Call again. Sounds like the first person still thinks that the release date is tomorrow and therefore won't activate it now. OR she just has no clue and said that to get rid of you.

Try calling again and I think you'll be good to go!

Ordered 6/18. Account charged Sat 7/7, Verizon email Sun 7/9 saying I'm on the "2 business day" list. FedEx clarifies that this means 2 business days from today, meaning Weds 7/11 at 7:00pm.

FedEx says they picked up the phone this morning at 6:00am from West Chester, PA at 6:00am, which is about a 2hr 15min drive from my Brooklyn apt. So hard to believe that it actually takes them 2 business days to get it here...I mean, I could WALK to West Chester, PA before 7:00pm Wednesday!

Is there anyone who's on the two-day list who actually received their device on the first day? Is there any chance at all that I'll have this puppy by tomorrow, 7/10 or should I just resign myself to Weds?

I told 2 Horses to man up...I was only joking and think he realizes this as well...we've been in this same waiting game thread for some time now:D No disrespecting him at all but thanks for keeping tabs on the threads.

If something got out of hand I totally missed it.....

Oh, and I'm a girl. But I can still "man up" if I have to! :p

Going to DYI activate now....

Mine is out for delivery as we type. I do have a question, I can activate via online which I will do by simply swapping out my sim from the Nexus to the SIII BUT, lets say down the road I feel like using my Nexus for a bit. Would I simply go online and do the same steps as I did with the SIII? How easy is it to go back and forth between two phones? Would it be treated as another activation which basically means another $30 charge. Anyone have experience with this? Sorry it doesn't quite fit in this thread but so much chatter here and I didn't think this warranted a thread of its own. Thanks in advance!

I'm on the exact same schedule as you here in Vermont, maybe they're grouping people together by location. I'm just happy they're finally sending it out! :)

Sometimes it's hard to tell with text and this thread especially, seeing how you guys were the last to get your phones. Thanks for clearing that up :)

I'm in Baltimore and same thing here except I ordered on 6/12 and my card was charged on the 5th! fed ex says picked up this morning at 6 and won't be delivered until wednesday. I'm an hour and a half from there. Really would hope I get it tomorrow.

mine is on fedex truck for delivery by 3:00pm, my wife is off work today, so I thought she would be home......but she forgot she has a doctors appointment @ 1:00pm. Probably will miss delivery. If so, off to fedex for me after work.

Of course they would try to deliver it at 1:15 when no one is home! and my wife just called me and got home at 1:35. Door hang says can be picked up after 4:00 pm. I guess i'm leaving work early as suddenly i'm starting to not feel so good! ;)

BAD NEWS FOR THE SIGNAL ON THE S3!
Well, I got my S3 earlier today and snuck away at work to activate it and try it out for the day.
I could tell right off bat the 4G signal and calling signal was much poorer than my Motorola.
Please, dont think I am dumping on this phone. The phone is the best I have ever used. The display is much larger than you think as well. But the weak signal is a deal breaker for me :(
I put the same radio station app on my S3 and a Razr and walked around one of our buildings. I also did the same with making a phone call.
The Razr held solid, but the S3 broke up and paused many many times.
I am so heart broken after all this time of waiting for this phone.
I dont know if this is something Verizon can even do something about, or if its just weak antennas in the S3.
I hope the best for the rest of you. For me, its back to my plain Jane Motorola. :(

So frustrating. Of course, despite picking the device up at 6:00am, it's apparently been sitting at the FedEx hub for the last 8 hours because I haven't received any indication yet that it's "in transit." Just because they have up to 2 days to deliver it to us doesn't mean that they need to just sit on the device all day today!

I know it's just a phone but my SGS1 (Fascinate) is really on the fritz these days.

I BELIEVE that is just the "upgrade fee" which only gets charged if you upgrade your device on contract/subsidized. Since many of us are grandfathered on unlimited.... I don't think we'll see that charge again.

But knowing Verizon, I'm sure there will be a "grandfathering fee" in the works.

Which motorola? Keep in mind, 4G seems to on average have less penetration/signal capability in general, and usually reads lower in terms of bars/db. If you are comparing a Motorola 3G device to a new 4G device, that's not really realistic. You may want to look into forcing the SGSIII down to 3G only, and see if that addresses your signal issues if you are in a questionable 4G signal area.
