Verizon Hands on Thread

2. Non-deal-breaker: Phone lags. It's not bad, but it lags noticeably compared to my Galaxy Nexus. I suspect all the S-Crap and V-Crap is to blame. Rooting and de-bloating will likely solve this, so this is not a deal breaker.
:(

Really? I've only heard good things about the phone being the smoothest running android phone. I had the galaxy nexus for 30 days and i always noticed lag in the browser and the app drawer, and from all the videos i've seen on the US SIII I havent seen it hiccup. As a matter a fact, ive never even seen the SII (with exynos) lag before.

If you read my post (The one you quoted) you'll see that I am already aware of both of these facts.
Really? You said:
I'm a fan of Swype and I wasn't happy to read that the version that came with the phone isn't very good.
This is incorrect because no version of Swype came with the phone. Unless it came from Nuance, it is not a version of Swype. Swype is a brand, not a capability. When people keep referring to the capability that comes with the phone "Swype", it confuses people into thinking that Swype comes pre-loaded on the SGS3. It does not.

I apologize in advance if this has been covered somewhere else, but I didn't see it...

Is there a way to disable the backup assistant plus? I did a factory reset, and skipped the setup of bap, but the stupid sync thing still pops up on top from time to time. I go into the settings for it, and nothing is set to sync, and I've disabled the part of it I could, but it still keeps coming back. Is this one of those things that there's just absolutely no way to kill? I don't care if I can't uninstall it, I've gotten used to that nonsense, but I'd like to at least be able to completely stop it if possible.

Thanks!

Are you sure that it is BAP that is syncing and not something else?

Different topic...I'm getting a weird LED indication. It's yellow-ish...with hints of green and orange, but I don't know what it is indicating. There are no new notifications, but it goes away if I just pull down the notification panel and then close it. My best guess is that it's telling me that my network mode changed from 4G to 3G or back, but I'm not sure. Anybody know what it's trying to tell me and know how to stop it.

You sir are correct. I tried to note this above, but note now I did not specifically say I "downloaded" swype (which is what I did- beta). Love it. Works great. Hands down better than the stuff sammy came out with.

Yep, I use Swype beta on my tablet and had it on my old phone - love it. I'm trying out the stock versions of most things for a few days, but I'm sure I'll set that up on here this weekend. It's a great keyboard.

What, do you own stock in Swype or something??? Is your post really necessary? I don't think too many people are going to get confused over the difference between a "Y" and an "I" in that word and how it relates to who owns the word. I guess if I'm not careful there will be a new thread starting about whether or not Swype comes pre-installed.

I love my sexy new phone! 4G here in my "marginal" reception area is faster than my satellite internet, and now that I've had some time to poke around on it a bit, I can tell this phone is awesome. Trying to find things I don't like, but so far I haven't found anything. I even like the keyboard! It has cool little features, like it disappears once your done typing - thank god no more "back" key to make it drop away! Sometimes it's the little things....

I agree with "sometimes its the little things". I really feel like SAMSUNG took the time to add ALOT on top of ICS before releasing this GEM. I cant seem to leave the phone alone. I LOVE the motions feature.

I ran speedtest in Norcross, Ga. My office is notorious for poor verizon coverage so I get about 2 bars. (in the bathroom my droid 1 would drop to 1x). I got 10 mbps down and 1.2 up.

I live in Kennesaw and the reception was as good as my Wife's Bionic. So radios seems decent if not good. I did not run speed test at home yet.

One thing that bugs me: WIFI toggle is not in the top with the others but is down in the notification panel. Can this be changed?

How do I run the speed test??
