[Verizon] Nandroid backup question

Should i just wipe/reset then flash a jb rom?

Or restore nandroid then flash a jb rom?

How about cache and dalvik?

If you're just going to flash the JB ROM, you don't have to restore the nandroid. When you're in recovery, wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache, wipe dalvik, then flash the JB ROM (and GApps if they're required, I believe they are). The mods will uninstall when you wipe data.

Sorry if this is an extremely dumb question, but when you do all the wipes to Flash the JB ROM that will completely delete everything off your phone, right? So I should copy my nandroid backup from my phone to my computer before wiping all those files??

it doesn't wipe SD partition. Unless you specifically tell it to. But it always good to backup your SD contents periodically onto your pc.

No problem! Glad to help because I was in your shoes not too long ago. Happy flashing! Which rom are you going for? One of the jakedays Jelly Belly rom I assume?

Yeah... That's where I'm going to start. It seems to be a good "beginner" ROM. However AOKP seems to be a popular one, so that might be my next one.

If i switch from one JB rom to another, should I do a full wipe each time?

There are details on the first post of jakedays thread on rootzwiki about whether or not you have to do a full (clean) wipe. For example, he says you can just wipe cache and dalvik when going from 3.1 to 3.2, but you have to clean flash from 2.6 to 3.0+ Personally, I just clean wipe every time I flash a rom. The more you do it the easier it becomes, and then you know that any bugs you might encounter were not caused by a dirty flash, but the rom itself or its compatibility with your phone.

Yea you should just to be on the safe side. Otherwise it might become buggy and then you'd have to wipe it again anyway. Keep in mind though that AOKP is still on ICS, so technically you'd be downgrading again :)

How do I return to stock rooted? Just wanna remove all mods and rom and be the way it was after rooting. For now

before you flashed your new rom, hopefully you made a nandroid backup. Just boot into recovery and restore the backup you made. Your phone will go back to exactly how it was - settings and everything.

I just did this. I flashed Jelly Belly 3.3 it was a little buggy on my phone (Data/syncing wasing working right) so I restored my Nandroid through CWM - phone exactly back to how it was. Now i'm probably gonna flash AOKP and see how that was, eventhough its not a JB ROM everyone seems to love it.

I'd recommend checking out JB Bugless Beast if you get a chance. Its running super smooth for me with no force closes or reboots or anything
