Help What factors about the the S3 should I know before buying?

The fact that Samsung designed a phone for international release, and put in the ability to encrypt the bootloader, even though only one carrier on the entire planet uses it. They should have simply not offered the feature...

AKA, the Verizon version won't run alternate kernels/etc.

minor inconvenience since we all know the xda devs will be all over it to unlock it.

Hey,

So, about two years ago, I bought the Xperia X10.
I heard alot of good about it.
Turns out its not the greatest phone.

Now I'm looking to get something that I don't want to throw at a wall in rage.

But I want to be prepared.

So, S3 Owners, what are the negitives?
I want every little bothersome thing about the phone.

Thanks ^.^

Hi,

On a personal note only I find the S3 not as nice looking as the S11? I do not like the finish of the phone, it being slippery and the back scratches very easily.
I know everone seems to like thin thin thin, I don't so am worried I will drop the phone. Again I just dont care for the step back in design to the S1.
This is all subjective of course with the exception of the back scratching so easily.
The important factors all tick the right boxes and that is what counts. The S111 is a very good phone. So was the S11.

Don't worry in next three months there will be new phones out that will better it....Its impossible to keep up with this techno', the quest for the best and latest has even conquered me, I give up, can't keep up with it and I love the latest technology.

I'm a long running Android user, however I've been using an iphone 4S for the last 3 months...Anyway couldn't pass up checking out the SG3 the other day at at&t, and low and behold....I ended up walking out of the store with a shiny white one.

To be brief....this phone rocks, like absolutely rock's! It's one of those phones that you just can't stop playing with. Its probably the best Android phone to date, some will disagree and roll with the HTC One Series, not me...I'm all in with the SG3.

However....The WiFi connection could be a little stronger, the screen would be absolutely Hands down the best on the market if it didn't use pentile technology, and the predictive text could be a little more iPhone like accurate.

Other then that...This phone is the best of 2012 so far.

I have the Verizon S3, had it for 2 days. So far I wish this phone had text rendering. I don't like having to scroll to read text. My Incredible and Rezound had it. This should be standard on any smartphone. Next up, with the earplugs plugged in, I get no notification sound for texts or a ring for incoming phone calls. This should be standard on any smartphone. I tried posting earlier to another thread using the S3, what a hassle without the text rendering. I am using Dolphin HD for my browser and GO Launcher. Maybe that's part of the rendering issue. I was hoping that this phone would be my last, but right now I might have to go back to the Rezound. Got the S3 only because I had 1 upgrade left and wanted to use it before June 28 to keep my unlimited data.
One more thing, can't seem to talk and browse.

Love the phone, hate the gallery, for some reason i'm having trouble deleting, rearranging photos. It was much easier on the SG II so to me this gallery has taken a step backwards.

Not sure how the SGII handled deleting photos but with this phone, go to the gallery you want to delete photos in, open it. To delete, click menu>select item. Now you can select ALL the images you want to delete. Tap on each and they will highlight with a blue box. Once you have all selected that you wish to delete click on the list icon (three lines) up in the top right corner of screen and hit delete. Done, gone, finished.

The media volume level sucks when using netflix.

Also pretty upset I dont have the voice texting on the stock app like I did on my SII.

If you install the Swype Beta keyboard it has a talk to text feature - or just pull down the notification bar (when keyboard is present), hit select input method and choose google voice.

If you have the S3 you've pretty much kept up with the latest tech for a little while, at least...even if for just 3 months. :) You just have to fall behind again while you use it. That's the case with everything, though. Better than going bankrupt!

I didn't even notice this yet. I too had the Incredible and thought that all smartphones did this.

My beefs are small. I love the phone.

I share a lot of pics (smut and non-smut) with friends that I stumble across on the phone. With my dinc stock browser I could just long press and share. The stock browser on this phone doesn't have that option. I'll have to experiment with browsers.

A few things you can't do like can't delete the VZ bookmarks. Really? Horseshit. VZ pisses me off with all of this bullshit and I don't even root my phones. Who the **** is using VZ nav instead of Google's nav? Really? Horseshit. That's a big stupid app that was bogging down my dinc and is still around.

I think google+ put some folders in my gallery that I can't delete. I know I'm doing it right because I deleted other folders but these are protected.

I enjoyed the alphabetical app list on my dinc.

You can get an alpha list -- go into Apps, press Menu, select View Type and it's there...

the only problem so far is the screen in direct sunlight. And the homescreen redraw after leaving apps.

Do u use s-voice? If u don't, disabling it in app manager makes a difference. But if u use voice, go to developer tools in options and turn application and transition animations to .5 or off. I've never used a more responsive phone before ever in my life. This phone is as instant as instant can get once u take these actions. Home button to close apps and launching apps will blow u away.
