After 3 days with the S3 on verizon

My thoughts

4G is FAST - wow- I have had great reception everywhere I go and never dropped a call yet. It is equal to my Incredible 2

Screen is great! I prefer it over the iphone 4s screen

Battery life is great! I make it through a whole day of text and pandora without worries

Things I do not like

The camera is a step down from my incredible 2 by far - this is disappointing me greatly

Speakerphone is not as clear as my INC 2 or iphone 4s

Stock browser freezes up lots and cannot handle complex websites well at all

Stock samsung keyboard T9 is a HUGE step down from HTCs T9 for texting and emails. no one seems to do T9 as well as the HTC keyboard

It's a great phone but not perfect. Coming from an incredible 2 and an iphone 4s I would say it's only a step up in speed and 4g and screen

I'm slightly concerned by your thoughts on the Camera. My S3's camera completely blows away most other phones, including the Inc 2. I wonder if something is wrong?

I have both devices next to me. want some side by sides? My inc 2 is much better in all shots

If by Incredible 2 you are talking about the Incredible 4G then yes the specs and similar camera specs are there. Which means you will be able to tell similar qualities in regular pictures. However the HDR mode in the S3 is impressive. I think the main difference you will find in the s3 is the amount of functions and raw camera speed is what puts it ahead of the Incredible 4G. The shutter speed in the S3 is my favorite feature. You can't tell the picture snapped sometimes. The burst shot is a nice touch as well.

In terms of quality of picture Samsung has not done much to improve over their previous Galaxy products. They focused on features and usability. Which is why I think you are saying that you can see similar photos your comparison with the Incredible 4G.

No. He most likely means the incredible 2. Also, you may wanna brush up on the incredible 4g specs and features. The inc4g also has zero shutter lag. I have to say from experience, the camera on the one s is better than the s3 but the s3 camera poops on the inc2

The similarities and specifications of the one x (or one s) camera compared to the S3 I think really come down to more personal experience and preference. That argument is more valid then arguing what camera is technically better. Since they are so similar in those regards. Its possible to make a strong case for both phone cameras.

Yeah I'd love to see the differences you're having. Like I said it makes me wonder if your GS3 has some sort of issue with it's camera, on mine the pics are great so far.

There was some jibber jabber about the VZW version not having the same camera as say the at&t or other versions? I don't know how true that is?

However I have the at&t version and will say the Camera is very good, but not great by any stretch of the imagination. I will have to side with anyone who says the iPhone 4S has a better camera. Its just better and quicker all around. But what you have to keep in mind is that the screen is super tiny, compared to this giant SG3.

What also matters is the person taking the picture. I've taken pics with both side by side, and with a little patience I can take just about duduplicate shots. But it does take some effort.

I am an amateur photographer and I can say without hesitation that the iPhone 4S is a MUCH better camera. There are more features on the S3, but picture quality is not very close.

The shutter is pretty fast (and WAY better than on my Inc), but there is shutter lag on the S3 compared to the IPhone. The pics I took on my Incredible (original version) were better than the S3 pics. They were better resolution. Both Inc and Iphone are better at stopping action, too (without flash.)

Overall, I think the camera is pretty weak in the S3.

The S3 ships with two totally different camera modules, so it depends on which one you get.

The GS3 camera is by far better than other smartphone cameras. I only see the One X/S/Evo 4G LTE and Iphone4S equal or slightly better.

I don't understand how people are saying their shutter speed on the iphone 4s is faster then the s3. I am sitting here with both phones (no flash) and the s3 takes pictures much faster.

I'm coming from the HTC Inspire and I have no complaints. This camera is pretty amazing but I really can't compare it to others like the 4S. But I can say I have a entry level canon power shot that cost as much as this phone retail and I'm very impressed when comparing photos.

For those that are saying the S3 camera is worse than others, how are you comparing the pictures to each other? Are you just using the pictures on the phone screen or are you putting them on a computer/printing them? I know that pictures looked more vibrant on my Incredible's than they do on the S3's screen, but once they were put on my computer, the S3's quality was definitely better, colors were better, it was sharper, and better details. I think the S3's dim screen might be influencing peoples thoughts on the camera. I believe it has the same sensor as the 4s.
Also if you are not happy, try changing some of the settings and see if you can see a difference.

I feel my Verizon s3 cam is crap too. It's very fuzzy in terms of low to avg light shots. The 4s was leaps better and my nexus is only slightly behind.
