Shipping date speculation

This morning I went to my local Sams and came away with a Nexus and 4 year warranty for about the same as I paid at the google play store.

A four year warranty you say! How much did it cost? Do you expect it to actually be easy and useful if it breaks in a few years? (As you may tell, I have a low opinion sometimes of these third-party warranty services... do you have to keep your original receipt for 4 years?)

I suspect your CC details are still in their database, filed away with the order. With retailers selling out, it should be really easy to find a buyer if you accept the shipment.

You maybe correct. I note the exact amount has been held on my credit card but not yet taken. I presume even if I remove my card as I have done it will not stop the payment. I will just have to wait and see?

In the 20 or so years that I have been a Sam's Club owner I have had nothing but great success with their warranty service. I am a business owner and so an extra year is added on to the 2 yr service and so for $20, it was worth it to me. Actually I did not know there was a 3 Yr service for $25 so I may get that however I think technology is changing fast enough, I do not need that extra year. The Sam's warranty starts AFTER the original one..

Yes you need to make a copy of the warranty as their thermal ink is not permanent.

I did order the $20 case (yes, I'm an idiot), maybe that has something to do with it? If they're not in then perhaps they won't ship the N7 without it.

That's exactly what I was thinking, since a couple days ago the case was listed as sold out. Does anyone else think that the shipping delay could be from the limited supply of cases. I can imagine some people would be pissed to receive their new investment and have no way to protect it. So Google holds off the shipments until they can ship the cases/tablets at the same time?

I got a message yesterday that my N7 had shipped and clicked the UPS tracking number. I got a message in red saying "UPS could not locate the shipment details for your request. Please verify your information and try again later." Is this what other people have been seeing?

That means its not actually collected yet just ready for collection. I think.

I received an email from Google play this morning around 1am mountain time with my tracking number. When I look it up on UPS it says that the label was made on 7-12-12 and that I should receive my package on Monday 7-16-12. I'm not sure how I could get it Monday if they don't have the package yet. I also don't have a charge or pending charge on my CC. I wonder if the are shipping N7's out today too? Either way I'm happier that things are moving forward.

Here's a thought: Those of you who have gotten emails or tracking notices, did you get an 8 Gig or 16 gig? Those who think you should have gotten your notice by now, what did you get?

16gb for me. Confirmed shipping at 2am today.

Those of you who haven't gotten anything, did you also get the case with it?

I received my tracking email sometime early this morning although the tracking number is not in UPS's system yet. I ordered a 16GB on the 28th.

No apparent rhyme or reason. I'll not cone down to hard on Google but they did botch this important launch. Does anyone know when the official launch was supposed to be? Yesterday or sometime next week? If it was yesterday I don't think I have ever pre-ordered to have the company wait and ship the day of launch. Shipments of pre-orders are usually timed so that they arrive when stores are scheduled to release them. I guess that none of the stores that are now selling them were supposed to sell them until next week? With online orders shipping from other retailers none of this makes sense.

I can only think that Apple is laughing their collective butts off at us. We all look like bad in this one.

Thanks Google

On my Google Wallet page it states that my package has been shipped as of today. Got the email at 2am today PST.

Using the UPS app and my tracking number it states that my scheduled delivery is Monday July 16th.

I ordered a 16GB on June 27th at 630pm PST.

Hope that helps. And to all still waiting...:D SMILE! It can reduce stress and anxiety up to 50%. In no way am I being sarcastic or attempting cruelty by saying that, fwiw.

First Post but I thought I would give you a synopsis of my discussion with Google:

Ordered on June 27 11am pdt (16gb model and a case) I have not received a shipping notification or a credit card charge

I called Google to discuss the issue and they have no information but state that the order is in process.
I asked why orders being placed significantly later then mine were getting notices but I was not but they could not give me a reason.... nor could they give me my shipping information.
I have tried to cancel the order but they can't because it is "in process" I was advised to deny the package when UPS delivers it.
I asked Shawn (Google Rep) why can I walk in to a Sams Club and purchase a Nexus 7 but Google has not shipped out the pre-orders? Shawn stated that the other stores were not to have sold any yet and that there would be "retribution" on those retail outlets.

I asked to speak to Shawn's supervisor regarding the cancellation of the order and received the same response to deny the shipment or to call Google with the tracking number to have the UPS package intercepted prior to delivery. Matt (the supervisor) stated that they were "well prepared" to do package interceptions. On a side note Matt also said that the stores like Sam's purchased their Nexus 7's from ASUS directly and that Google had no control over those sales and that Google was going to meet their mid July delivery and that was all that mattered to them. When I asked him if the anger from the public at Google was important after they botched delivery to early order placers and failed to provide updates to the purchasers he said I could talk to Google Public Relations.

To sum things up I have my Nexus 7 in my hand.... I walked in to Sam's Club purchased my Nexus 7 and saved about $20 ($246.84 and no shipping) Now I just have to wait for my shipping notification to get my package intercepted.

Welcome to the forums. :congrats:

Seems your tale is becoming typical of this process. At least you have one in hand to enjoy now. :)

I'd already ordered online from Staples, but had read here that Sam's Club might have them. I called and they did, so I made a quick trip down there. I had 3 Sam's Club employees scouring the entire building trying to find them. After 15 minutes, they found them. The employees were really helpful and concerned about my wait. Walked out with a new Nexus 7 and their 2 year warranty.

I think I have partially figured out what's going on with many of us still waiting. We didn't order a single device. We ordered either multiple N7's, as I did, or an N7 and a case. This actually makes sense as these would need a little more initial handling beyond 16 or 8. In my case it is a 18 & an 8. For someone else, it is an 8 & a case. Or a 16 & a case. Either way, if I'm Google and I have tens of thousands of devices to I'm taking the simple ones first to get the most out the door as fast as I can. Then circle back and get the oddball orders like mine.
