Is anybody picking this up?

Just wondering who will be getting this phone when it comes out.

I'd like to upgrade when the device launches, but my early upgrade with AT&T comes in October, so I'll have to wait a bit.

Even with the locked bootloader, I think this device has potential in the development world.

I will be upgrading as soon as it's available. I have been patiently waiting for something worthy to trade in my Atrix 4G for. This is the best offering yet, so I am in. I like the free car dock and nano water protection. Should be a nice phone.

CANT WAIT TILL THE WEEKEND!

I may get it used after it's been out for a few months. I'm waiting for my AT&T contract to end in February and then I'm moving to Straight Talk so I'm not going to sign another contract.

I'm definitely picking this up. I am currently using the HTC One X but am ready to get rid of it and switch to the Atrix HD. Since the OG Atrix, I've loved what Motorola has done with the Androids. I've always had great battery life, decent update support and no issues. I was a big fan of the Atrix 4G, switched when the Atrix 2 came out and really the only reason I switched out of that is because I wanted an LTE capable phone.

I've already gotten the chance to hold one and play around with it for a bit and I am very excited for it. Can't wait.

Edit: I also read that Moto is developing a tool to unlock the bootloader similar to the one HTC has so the phone will be very developer friendly.

WHOA WHOA WHOA ...I call foul, no fair no fair, where and how have you gotten to see it and check it out??????

I can't decide if I want white or off black... and no one has them where I can see them in my neck of the woods. Heck everyone I talk to is giving me the "I assume they will be here" SAME BS as with the first Atrix launch.

Hehe...I work for a retailer and one of the Moto reps came by our store to show us the phone. It was the titanium grey model. Being that the kevlar finish is black on both models (I believe) I think I'm going to stick with that color rather than the white.

I like how it feels in the hand, definitely feels durable. No cheap plastic like feel like some have complained on the S3.

As for how it performs...I only played with it for about 2 minutes. So it's hard to say. I did try scrolling and the multi-tasking and it was smoothe. It has a feature which I haven't seen before; you can flick upwards on the phone, messaging and browser icon and it brings up a preview window of your most recent, calls or bookmarks. I'm not sure how many other of the icons do this but I found that extremely cool.

The circle widget that comes on board is also awesome. It's not a game changing feature but the fact that I can see my batter %, data usage and time, on one widget by simply flicking it...that was sweet.

I'm skeptical that the Atrix HD won't be compatible with the Lapdock 100 or 500
Motorola ATRIX HD won’t have Lapdock/Webtop capabilities

I don't think there'll be any problem at least trying it. It may not have the webdock support on the phone, but maybe some functions will still work. Reason I believe there'd still be some functionality is because this works:

I was waiting for this phone to come out. I am currently on vzw with the Maxx. Moving to ATT and this phone is a serious contender. Also considered the One X, S3. The new interface looks great.

Anyone know if the Atrix HD will be sold at Best Buy on Sunday? Will it include the car dock free promo if so?

Only ask because they are willing to give me $150 for my Atrix 4G (yea I keep em in good shape)

That being the case I could upgrade and have change back, which would be nice.

I am tempted to keep my Atrix being as it was such a ground breaking phone and nothing else like it has been made, but I am kinda tight this month and would prefer to be as cheap as possible. Not like I am ever going to actually USE it again, just sentimental.

I'd just call your local Best Buy and ask. I'm pretty sure the free car dock promotion is being run by Motorola, so you might want to chat with a rep on the Motorola website and see how that is going to work.

Oh I tried to call Best Buy, they have no clue. First it was call back tomorrow then call back Thursday night, then call Saturday. No one has any clue if they will have it.

Just wondering if anyone here had the inside skinny.

You know, I'm just as curious as you, so let me see what the skinny is at the local L.A. Best Buy's. Even though I don't have ATT, I have a few family members that I'm sure would be interested. I'm almost positive that there are BB Mobile (or former) employees that post on this forum. Just not sure if they've seen this thread.

Quite honestly, it kinda feels the same way the release for the Photon was last year. Not much fanfare, not much publicity, no pre-order because the anticipation for stock was not expected to sell out fast.

I called a couple local best buy's and unfortunately, they gave me a similar speech. Their stock for weekend sales usually gets delivered on Thursdays, so if they didn't receive it yesterday, it's not likely they'll have it available for sale on Sunday.

That said, just for some peace of mind, they pulled exactly the same thing on many Photon owners when it was released at the end of July last year. Ultimately, what I did was on the day of release (July 31), I called every single Best Buy within a 15 mile radius from my house starting with the closest to the furthest. The first one that said they got it in stock, I asked them to hold for me and I would be there to pick it up in 20 minutes. I went through 2 (smaller) stores, prior to getting confirmation that they had it. The store that ended up having it had enough stock that they said I didn't even need to keep it on hold because they got more than enough shipped to them and I was the first one to call about it (1 hour after the store opened).

I got the phone yesterday and so far so good. Great battery life, I love the smart profiles and their ICS integration is solid.

FYI, AT&T is giving you a free car dock when you buy the Atrix HD with a 2 year contract.

Just picked up the phone to replace my wife's atrix 4g. The phone is really nice. I'm not eligible for an upgrade till February or I would have picked up two. As for the free car dock my location is not giving them away for free. They checked around and said they couldn't find any promotion for the free car dock. So if you get one its just gravy. But 99 dollars for the phone you get is an amazing deal!

Try contracting motorola directly. I read an article that said it's a motorola promotion, not att.
