Root [ROM] Nov-13 MeanROM ICS v6.3 | 2.13.651.1 | Mods | Batt saver | OC 1.7 Ghz

It looks like you are saying you are stuck at the htc screen after you flashed the rom?

I noted that it took a while to boot up myself, was wondering, but it took off after a while.

If that is the case, just try rebooting.

Can you get to recovery? can you restore a nand?

Yes I can get to recovery. I may have to restore. I am trying again. It has been 5 minutes at the HTC screen again. I have never had this problem before....any idea? I am really at a loss on this one. This sucks because I flashed the radio files..I am hoping my restore will have radio files in it.

did you ever get a good boot with the radios installed or did you flash the rom right after, without booting?

Roms have built in kernels, but do not change the radios. It took a while for it to load for me too.

I don't know if it would be better to try to reflash the rom or go to a nand or just try powering it down with the 3 button push thing and reboot and see if it comes up first. If the radios are messed up though, neither of those will change anything.

Well I will put it like this - my phone is STILL at the HTC screen right now. This is after reflashing ROM and radio.

Restoring now..reflashing my backup..

OK...thank god..it is working.

HEre is what I noticed..on my HTC screen for my working backup, it had the red developer writing on that screen.

on my failed ROM (1.4) when it showed the HTC screen, that writing was not there.

You flashed the radio again? Does your method show you the radio being installed correctly?

Can you restore a nand?

I am wondering if flashing back to the previous radios would help.

Don't get wild and do a bunch of stuff. see if Rx or Early or Granite have seen anything like this and what they suggest.

It can be scarey to have your phone not working right but fast moves can make more trouble.

Did you check MD5? Sounds like either a bad download or bad flash.

Wipe it all again and reflash

Also, 1.5 is out so download that :p

i checked the md5 on my radio file and 1.5. Both passed.

I will wipe everything..flash ROM then flash radio file again...not sure what else to do.

Ok...it made it past the HTC screen...looks like it worked this time.

That was insanely bizarre. I am strapping in for more insanity, but it looks like I should have updated radios and version 1.5

I flashed 1.4, and literally by the time I had it booted and mostly set up, 1.5 was out! So I dirty flashed 1.5 on top of that. Getting rid of the soft menu and quick settings alone are worth it.
I do need to watch battery life though - I've noticed more drain than usual this morning. Granted, I've been mucking about with settings and getting everything restored, and I probably have missed a couple of tweaks.
So far so good though!

I was curious what the soft menu and quick settings are? I don't half the good stuff I can do on this rom apparently..lol

The menu he is talking about is that annoying black bar with 3 dots.

Quick settings is when you pull down your notification bar there is a quick settings tab with easy access to a lot if settings

I did it like this,
The new firmware is up on the OP at XDA, as well. Used the PJ75IMG method as my phone is S-OFF.

The DL seems to be from CaptainThrowback. It is refreshing to see the progress in the zip in the bootloader as he shows the steps to be extracting and applied ok.

It happens pretty quick! It is nice to know the process is done, too, have flashed radios before and thought it was still working when it was in fact done, and caused a lot of stress!

Updated my PRL and Profile and rebooted my phone and did a speed test, just for grins. Got 1.3 Meg down. Not too shabby!

Downloading the 1.4 version as I type this. Tried the new TWRP 2.2 recovery as well, it appears to have worked flawlessly. See how well it wipes and flashes here in a bit!

Man, we have been gifted with some really talented and helpful people to help us with this phone, it is amazing!

Edit: I stacked a couple of superwipes and then flashed the rom. bad boy took a while to boot up. Not really used to that anymore. I have only been flashing updates here lately though, so maybe that is what has spoiled me. Besides for the fact the phone is so fast, as well.
Now to see what we shall see! :)

I am S-off so I used a different method to get the Radio, but the file and method you need is on the op as well.

So far my battery life is back to awesome.

Question..that top part of the screen that you slide down for quick settings and notifications..mine always flashes grey when I exit an app and sometimes makes everything slow to load. I have had little crashes where the home screen has to reload, and not many apps are loaded.

Anyone else have this little issue?

I jumped ship for a while and have been running the Stock Rooted Deodexed version of the ota. Think I got up to 1.5 on Mean without any problems though.

I am really pleasantly surprised with how the basically stock version, with the new radios, etc, is running. Don't know if it is that combo or Sprint network had some good days, but my data was a lot faster and the battery like was shocking as well.

I did flash a zip to remap the recent apps button but it wasn't too bad with out it.

The dev states that if someone has probs they should try flashing the rom on a fresh wipe to see if that helps. Have you tried that? Maybe it will help?

I haven't heard of that issue anywhere else.

First boot into recovery and wipe the cache partition and the dalvik cache.

If it persists, you may need to reflash the Rom.

Updating to 1.7 from 1.5. All is good but how do you remove the soft three button menu icon (I already have remapped the right button to menu)?

Thanks

Chris,
When you flash the right button to menu, that should eliminate the three dots. Earlier versions required you to change a line in the build.prop, but not any longer.

Thanks Skid,

I guess that there is no removing it from some of the apps(example: stock browser where it shows up next to the URL)? This isn't a big deal at all but I figured since I had a dedicated button that I could reclaim screen real estate and clean things up a bit.

Chris.
