Shipping date speculation

The ones in the B&M store do include the pre-order goodies (Pre-loaded content and $25 credit) and the ones from the Play store are 4-5 days behind and cost more money. To me it's a perfectly legit reason to be upset and to not order a device from the Play store again.

For me, I'll just pay the shipping to guarantee a copy before even knowing availability (at first I didn't even know it was going to have these B&M's selling it). And, having it on my doorstep waiting for me to get back from work is nice - whenever that comes.

I don't mind it being a few days later, I don't have to go through the crazy retail pre-order / find a store with stock craziness... I did that for my $99 HP TouchPad, and the $20 is saving me that search I really didn't enjoy last time.

For a lot of people, it's a thrill to find the newest product for the lowest price in the shortest amount of time possible. I'm unfortunately not one of those people (the HP TouchPad experience was pretty miserable for me to see them in stock, then out of stock, then camping out, phone calls, etc.)

But, since I've been in this thread awhile, I do enjoy following the speculation and news :)

Mines is in KY too. To be delivered tomorrow. I'm not sure why it's in KY if it's coming from CA and I'm in CO. I wonder if someone else is doing the shipping and distribution for google.

It may be coming from asus, through the KY UPS distribution center. But that's all just a random guess.

Still odd since Asus HQ is CA also. Perhaps manufacturing plant elsewhere, or international?

All UPS packages go through KY to the regional processing centers IIRC. You purchased from a company or companies in California but it doesn't mean that Google had pallets of N7's sitting on their campus. Chances are they passed through CA to a 3rd party fulfillment processor via rail or tractor trailor and the midwest to be close to UPS's main package processing center or were sent directly to UPS as part their own logistics services. Shipping a package for Google or Amazon or any large company is far different than what you or I do.

Does anyone know if these UPS packages are going to require a signature? I wonder if there is a 'working remote' day in my near future... :)

I don't believe so. You can get around the "Adult Signature Required" by printing out a copy of the tracking sheet, sign it, and write that you authorize the driver to leave the package and use the signed sheet as an authorized signature.

This is what I did with my Galaxy Nexus. I should note that I live in an area / neighborhood where I have no qualms about a package being left on my doorstep. So there is that.
