Had anyone manage to make any sense of Google Now? On the lock screen you slide it up and I just get a Google screen...and nothing more. I set it up to show sports and weather, but they don't appear. If I disable it, I get a blank grey bar at the top of the screen where the Google search used to be.

Are you set in language and settings to English(US) ? Do you have your web history paused? Stuff should show up once you start searching with it like "did yourteam win the game last night"

This thread might help

Yeah, as long as you make sure web history is enabled, it will gradually find all the stuff relevant to you. You will need GPS enabled for a few days to get work and home location logged. Also it gets better at reporting stuff as time goes on. (For example, after it first figured out where I work and live, it would report traffic info, however it reported it all day. Now it has also figured out my commute schedule, and only reports that info near my actual commute.

Anti, you have JB on your phone, right? If so, does what your phone "learned" carry through to your cards on the N7?

After only having it a couple hours yesterday, it alerted me of driving time to an appointment I had. Popped up and basically told me to leave now, and just had to press a button to bring up google maps navigation.

There is already a tile up for another appointment I have this afternoon, along with a weather tile.

It seems to as far as I can tell. (I have both.) Also, I did some searches for locations while I was logged into Chrome on my desktop at work. Those places I searched showed up w/ time to and directions in tiles in my Now. I also did some searches that had tiles just with that term show up in my Now on the other device. Pretty cool.

How do you set your "home" and "work" locations?

As stated, it'll try to learn over time. When it first pops up a tile for work or home, it gives you a blue link to change the location if it is wrong. If it doesn't give you the link, you can always click the three dots on the tile (hard to do with fat-ish fingers) and edit from there. It took only a few days to learn where each was. So far though, I haven't given it a fair chance to figure out when though. :p

How did you add appointments? I tried adding things to my calendar, and it doesn't pull any of them into Google Now.

It had no problem finding appointments in my gmail calendar. It also saw appointments in my wife's gmail calendar since I have view rights there. It doesn't give me driving directions to her appointments though (which is good and how I want it).

I initially told it I would fool with it later, and that apparently turned it off. I spent a long time getting the plain goolge search till I noticed the menu dots in the lower right corner. Bringing up the menu lets you turn google now back on.

No, you can set Home and Work manually. Theres an option to do it thru maps, but its easier to just go to maps.google.com , be logged into your account and click on "My Places" , then set the addresses in Home and work. After I did that the traffic cards popped up after refreshing.
