Root Is this for real? ICS for Spectrum!

I guess my point is if you have all the proper info and tools to successfully flash said leak, why hoard them to yourself? That's not being a productive member of the community. He is knowingly dooming people, that's not cool Imo. But I do understand that it's not the leakers burden to make sure people have all that is required. Just more of a common courtesy Imo. With that my piece is said and I'm done.

I would have had no issues if he had horded the tools, but he purposely pointed everyone to a posted method that did not work and he had not even bothered trying. That's the equivalent of putting out an update.zip that does DD commands to every partition on your phone without testing it a few times first. You just don't do that to people. You test it out, or you say "Here is the base file, but I don't have a a way to give you the tools right now".

It was the individuals risk, as with all leaks, the leak was provided, not their place to provide tools to use it with. Yes there was a bit too much whine and complaint. There was good reason for it, but blame should have never been pointed at the leaker. We all know how this goes, and I'm sure many of you have tested leaks in the past. The fault there lied within the individual. Hell, I even tested and zero'd my IMEI, got a refurb, no ones fault but my own. The leaker pulled for that reason, and that was a bit harsh as well, they know that kind of shit would happen. If it were me in the place, I would of kept leaking, others being uninformed about how to use what isn't my problem or place to resolve. I would be a provider, nothing more, nothing less.
Thank you.

Why are you commenting about this now? This is old news. Your comments don't really help expedite the process of getting source or ICS for that matter. I DO GET where you are coming from by by saying this, but I mean we are going to get ICS soon regardless, and also odds are we will never see an official JB release, but thanks to donations/recruiting we have dev's who think getting JB once we have ICS shouldnt be to difficult.

BTW@Hollywoods, the dev's device has been fixed.
Why now? Since JB was released there may have been a chance we would have seen it from this same source.
Obvious the expediency of ROMs is lost at present.

So, Verizon/LG puts out a phone that needs updates, and they tested them, I agree wrong. No different.

Little or no chance of seeing offical JB. The question was posed on the official LG forum and an LG employee said not very likely. Also considering Spec is EOL why would LG spend any time/resources on it?

Seriously. Even the simplest of bin kang doesn't want to load on the phone, so 'easy' and 'LG Spectrum' aren't synonymous to me. ;)

I wonder if there's some leftovers from the source bin causing the problems?

Meaning if the GNEX is the source, it has a TI OMAP cpu and we've got a Qualcomm Scorpion. Yes they are both ARM but the OMAP is an A9 and I think ours is an A8 varient.

There could be incompatible instructions coming in.

It reminds me of when I was heavily into Gentoo linux playing around with CFLAGS and tweaking the compiler constantly. I also managed to get some of it running on one or more of my SPARCstations but they could be tempermental. You had MicroSPARC, TurboSPARC, SuperSPARC, HyperSparc, UltraSPARC and they all had slightly different instructions and binaries from one might or might not work on the other.

That mainly just means that the chip has better architecture and is probably smaller, right? If that's the case it would probably improve heating issues and battery life, then again I'm a mechanical engineer not computer so my logic probably is a little off.

A15 architecture vs A9 architecture. Kinda like going from a P4 to a Core2Duo. Also better graphics chipset, but that doesn't mean it's the best out there.

My S3 has been working pretty flawlessly. It's nice to not have to charge all the time, as I can make it through a day as long as I'm not out taking video and simultaneously taking pictures for a long time. The screen's the biggest drain, as is likely to be the case for all phones in the future.

Once/If the Spectrum get ICS, you'll probably be in decent shape, at least if you have an extended battery. That being said, it's a decent upgrade (especially in battery performance), although I wouldn't pay $600 to get it out of contract if you already have a Spec.

Surprisingly, it gets nearly as hot as our spectrums.

Yes, it does seem to get as hot, although it doesn't lock up when it heats up. Also, it's doing alot more to generate that heat... if you underclocked the S3 down to the performance of the Spectrum it would be alot cooler. It almost seems like the GPU is what is really generating heat... I was doing some video editing/compression on the S3 and it didn't seem to get that hot actually... but Dead Trigger for a few minutes laying down will heat up pretty quickly.

I certainly hope ICS gets released soon... would make the device a bit more valuable in the secondhand market.
