S2 users who have upgraded to S3. Comparison?

As I've stated in a few other posts here, I am about to jump ship from my iPhone 4 (5 years using iPhone exclusively) to a Galaxy S3. Although the S3 looks awesome, I find myself more attraced to the form factor of the S2.

Can those of you who have used the S2 and upgraded to the S3 comment on how much different/better the S3 is? Do you think the S2 with ICS would be comparable to the S3?

As I said, I'm likely going to the S3 but want to explore all options before I spend the dough. I really do like how the S2 physically looks...

Thanks!

I upgraded from an s2, and I'm probably going to be flamed for this but here goes lol

Undoubtedly the s3 is a great phone. But I'm not so sure it was worth the upgrade for me. The screen is much much better, and the camera, when its not blurry, is better... but for me, I dont personally think its that big of an upgrade.

I'm on my s2 right now, it just feels so much better in my hand and I dont feel it does that much less than the s3.

Not saying the S3 isn't great, I just feel for my needs its not that much better than my s2.

I have both and am on AT&T. You wanna know the difference between the two? Think 3GS vs iPhone 4S. There is your comparison in a nutshell.

These features alone were worth the upgrade: 2gb of RAM, 1.5ghz S4 cpu, bettr graphics, near 'retina' quality screen (just a few ppi shy of the iPhone), the camera is much better (likely due to upgraded software and sensor/lens), and multicolored LED notifications.
I couldn't stand going from the iPhone4 to the S2 because of the screen. It was like going from crystal clear to blurry. It was really annoying. I believe the S3 is really the first Android phone to give the iphone a run for its money. I love the S3. It really is that good. And i am an Apple fan saying this.

I came from the S2, and it was a pretty big upgrade, but not as big as from the Captivate(original galaxy S on at&t) to the S2. The screen size and resolution are the biggest things you will notice at first, then the gorilla glass 2 which makes it quite hard to get alot of fingerprints, and an led notification some of the other things I have really gotten used to that would make it hard to go back. I definitely feel it was worth the upgrade.

Yeah, I agree. I love my S3, but it doesn't have the same wow factor that the S2 did/does. I've had some inexplicably poor quality photos, I'm annoyed about the lack of support for transferring files to/from a Mac and I'm a little concerned about the convex screen, which i think may be more vulnerable to cracking than the S2's (which was flat).

It's awkward to hold in one hand, as well, whereas the S2 is just about a perfect fit.

I hope the file transfer problem gets sorted and i really hope I'm wrong about the screen, because i dropped my S2 loads of times.

I never owned the S2, but I do sell for three diff carriers and am very familiar with all our phones. The S2 has been and still is a great phone. The S3 is def the superior phone in terms of specs and innovations. What is the best option for you is subjective to the priorities you place in purchasing and owning a phone. Everyone has diff opinions on the look of a phone, so I'll leave that alone. The screen on the S3 is more clear, better in sunlight (however marginally), and larger. The processor is the same speed, but the Snapdragon S4 is better, though I doubt you'd notice much in your daily use. The camera is better, and also has the ability to record video and take pix at the same time (not to mention take pictures with voice commands and zero shutter lag).

In terms of reviews, I've read some gripes about call quality issues and have had some concerns brought to me as well. It's been a fraction of those we've sold (actually, only two which were brought back because of this, both from the same plan where they live in an area not known for the best reception with any network). Thus far, I've had better reception than any phone I've had on Verizon. In comparison, I've had a couple S2s brought back because of this, each time from areas where call quality is questionable. And those were only the T-Mobile versions. The AT&T one never had any returns or exchanges, but also didn't sell as well at our kiosk due to more comparative phones from the network.

It's truly the innovations that separate the S3 from every other phone on the market. Some could look at them as simply gimmicky, and not entirely practical. That's fair. I see them as representative of a shift in how we use our phones, and how we will begin to use them in the future.

my S2: Loved the brightness of the screen. Love how it didn't have any hardware buttons in front. Never lagged on anything, performed great with office files, VPN etc

my s3: I like the more sleek curved design than the S2. It's much faster and more fluid than the S2. I don't really like the home button. The screen isn't as bright as the S2 but resolution is much better. Battery life is much better than the S2. Camera is much better than the S2.

I had the s2 since it first came out and now have had the s3 for over 3 weeks. Like others have said screen, camera, speed is a huge difference. The wi if dosent drop like my s2 did,and the s 3 doesn't freeze up like my s2 did. the call quality is better, and I get much better reception on my s3.All in all I luv this phone and think it is the best phone out there with unlimited software and potential.

Everything exactly as the above reply said + amazing battery life even without rooting.

Never had the S2. but my dad has it. The screen is far superior on the S3. Everything about the S3 is better. Except for reception. My dad's S2 will have full bars of 3g right next to me. And i will have if im lucky 2 bars of 3g and more often than not ill have 3 bars of 1x

Are you on ATT or VZ?

Since Verizon never had the S2, I'm assuming your dad is on a different carrier and you're comparing apples and oranges.
