Great Gaming Device!

I agree with it being an excellent gamer. I spent $4.99 of my credit on ShadowGun. Really smooth first person shooter and I'm really pleased with the great controls. It's a D-pad concept, but sets the center of the D-pads when you put down your thumbs. Left thumb for movement and right thumb for looking around. Pretty slick!

If you are using your thumbs to control your movement how do you shoot or jump or whatever? Maybe the more important question, How many thumbs do you have?

We really need a standardized controller and some sort of interface for it. That is the sole reason I contributed to the Ouya kickstarter. they get it. Android games with a standard controller support. I get that not all games make sense for controller over touch screen but many do. Shadowgun, Dead Trigger, ect... I wish someone would come up with something. And something that works without jumping through hoops every time you want to play with it. I know Nyko is coming out with the ProPad this fall but I want something now. And I refuse to buy Gamestops POS. Looks too much like the PS3 Boomerang controller to be comfortable. I think its a goldmine business waiting to be cracked into.

In my experience, all\most android games have the same control layout. Including emulators.
Or are you referring to a standard PHYSICAL controller?

As for the Nexus 7 being a great gaming device: I couldn't agree more.. Just purchased Dead Trigger and Nova 3 - SPECTACULAR graphics and game play

The physical controller. I understand that my tablet is not a console but some of these games are starting to look really good. And certain genres just dont make sense using the touch screen.

Shoot I really want to get nova but i know that game loft have great sales. I think I might just wait for one of there sales.

Speaking of gameloft, anyone with the device know if gameloft's golf game is compatible with this thing? I have wanted a good golf game on my android tab (Transformer OG) since I got it last year and they just do not support my current tab.

Will ShadowGun THD work on the nexus 7? Is that what you have?

I never considered the N7 as a "proper" gaming device, other than for time passing simple games like Angry Birds.

I have never been able to get into hand-held gaming at all and prefer to stick to my PS3 or Xbox.
However, I have tried Dead Trigger and was pretty blown away, much better than anything I expected. Still a bit fiddly til I get used to controls but it may well make me rethink my position on hand-held gaming.
