Hello everyone, I am a first time smart phone owner and I am interested in rooting it.

I am with us cellular. So I hope I am posting in the proper forum. I didn't see a specific place for posting for us cellular Gs3s like I did for sprint or Verizon etc. I originally went in and got the gs2. And then like 3 days later the gs3 was released so I was able to go in and upgrade my phone to the new gs3.

My model number it tells me under phone info is SCH-R530U.
Android version is 4.0.4.
Carrier. Us cellular.
Any other specifics needed to help me get rooted I will happily provide if I'm able. I somewhat new at this so go easy on me.

My main reasons for wanting to root are to remove un necessary pre installed apps and programs to save on memory (a list or link to a list of these unnecessary "bloatware" apps and programs would be very helpful.... As I know there is quite a few and I know removing the wrong ones is where you can go wrong and brick your phone. . And having the ability to move my apps to my mounted sd card. I have an 8gb sd card installed right now, but I plan on using upgrading to a 32gb sd card.

Anyways.... As I said I'm very new to this.... I have successfully jail broken an ipod touch and a psp_3000 in the past.... But from the research and reading I've done so far I know this is an entirely different beast altogether and I respect that fact.... So I humbly come here to ask for guidance and assistance.

Is this process safely being done on us cellular gs3s? Where can I find a good step by step beginners guide to doing this to my phone? I mean from step one.... Like backing up my phone.... How to not lose the apps I've already bought and downloaded..... Everything. Please help me out. I as I said I'm new bul I still think with good directions and guidance ill be able to do this like I did with my ipod and psp.

This thread is for the S3 model GT-i9300. The quickest way to destroy your phone is to use the wrong rooting tools and files that were not designed for your phone. Your phone is NOT the same as the i9300 so be very carefull you find the files belonging to your model.
