Where to buy the Nexus 7

As I've been reading the Nexus 7 forums, some people are saying that they've been walking into stores lately and walking out with their new favorite 7 inch tablet. I haven't been this lucky...yet.

So I'm looking for a way to help myself and others.
Post the way you got yours.

Where did you get it?
What city?
How many are left?

This way, people can maybe sneak it and snag one if there's an overnight shipment, etc.

TIA!

For the last few days, our local Staples has been saying a truck with about 7 comes in on Monday but I have my doubts. I will be going in Monday afternoon/evening to grab one before they hit shelves Tuesday AM.

Well I'll be calling Staples in the morning and seeing if they have a shipment coming in. Thanks for the heads up.

I have called Staples, Office Max, Office Depot, Best Buy, Wal-Mart and Sam's Club in my area. Not only do they not have any, none of them know if or when they will EVER have any. Staples and Office Depot said that some stores will get them, but not all (I live about 30 miles from Nashville) and that there was no guarantee that I would be able to get my hands on one from any stores IN THE AREA. Best Buy wasn't sure that they'd ever carry it. Wal-Mart and Sam's Club thought that I was looking for an iPad. Apparently, the Walton's were unaware anyone else made a tablet. Office Max was oblivious to anyone selling anything.

GameStop is the only place I didn't check. Their website doesn't seem to be very helpful and my last face-to-face encounter with them was mindblowingly bad (I tried to cancel my pre-order for Guild Wars 2, since it happens to be coming out 3 months after the date they posted) and I'm not sure I can handle another dose of "customer support" from them.

That aside, if any of these places do get any in stock... how many 16gb versions would you assume to be in the wild? I'd really love to have a Nexus 7 and I would really love to snag one while I can get 25 dollars of credit in the Play Store, but I really don't like giving money to someone and then hoping I see my product in the next month.

Edit: It looks like they have removed the 3-4 week delay and simply made it unavailable for purchase. ARGH! I've been waiting months for this thing. =( I'm tempted to to just got pick up a TF300, now.

Just a little help for everyone trying to find one. When you call in, ask if they can look up and see if they have an item number in stock for you. If you don't know the item number ask for the Nexus 7 and then ask what the item number is. I have found they are much more willing to look and check if you know the item #. I have bought one, from sam's club. Unfortunately the left side screen is raising so I have to find another one.

Item #'s that I know...
Sam's Club 793929
Staples 949231
WalMart 550756186 (you can buy online and mine says it would ship to your local walmart within 5-10 days) they might possibly get them in stock at local walmarts soon.

I bought mine Sunday, July 22 at Staples in Mobile AL, they had at least 2 left.

I checked online Saturday night, and the Staples website states they were "in stock" at the nearest store ... and "low stock" at the 2nd nearest ... and "out of stock" at the 3rd nearest.

I went in first thing Sunday morning to Staples (in Mobile AL) and bought it. She had stated they had 2 or 3 before going back and getting it. I didn't ask after she got it how many they had.

It is on their weekly advertisement.

Their display was just the Nexus 7. They hadn't put up signs yet around it at all.. not even the price, by the time I walked out.

They claim this week only they have a $50 2 year warranty and a $100 2 year acccidental warranty. They said next week it goes up by $50.. I passed... praying my son doesn't break it lol.

Got mine at Office Depot yesterday. Their online store tracker seems to be pretty accurate:

Nexus 7 From Google 7 Tablet 16GB by Office Depot

Click the "Check stock at Locations" and find one near you. A few around me have a couple in stock.

THIS. This was the most helpful thing I've seen so far. My store 1 mile away had none. The store 3 miles from said said 1 in stock, so I called in and they had 2. Time to hop in the ol' wagon. :smokingsomb::p:D:)

All last week Staples told me that they'd be getting 6-7 in on a truck due Monday, July 23rd. Today (Monday, July 23rd) I was told middle of August. Not a good sign.

Edit: Thanks for the link, Craihwk. But it shows 8 locations from 3 to 80 miles away with no inventory :bawling:

BUT... staples.com is showing stock at a couple locations near me despite what I was told earlier... hmmmmm....

You're not very far from me :D I'm about 30 minutes north of Jackson...

Anyways, buy an 8gb from the play store.. You'll save $50, get the $25 credit, and I *promise* you won't be disappointed despite the limited storage. This is easily the best Android device I've owned to date.

As far as waiting for it goes... I ordered my n7-8gb Friday afternoon ~3:00PM, and it was at my door at 9:30 Saturday morning \:D/
