Help Install fonts

Is it possible to download fonts and install them onto the phone? Would like more than 4 choices for font. Don't really want to spend $1 for every font from Play.

This will allow you to use new fonts in document editors and browsers and such, but won't change the system font:

1. Root the phone

2. Copy the fonts to /system/fonts using a rooted file explorer such as ES File Explorer.

3. Reboot the device.

You don't need root to add fonts. You can install fonts from the Play store and use them immediately. From Settings->Display->Font Style, tap "Get fonts online" and it will search the store for you.

True, but that works if you want to install fonts from the Play store which the OP doesn't seem to want to do. If you want to push your own fonts, you have to root AFAIK.

Or you could just download and install the relevant flipfont from xda (FOR FREE):
Flipfonts [* 07/25/2012 pack updated *] - xda-developers

Then go to settings>display>font style and it'll show up as a new option in there

Thanks for the help. I found an app in the Store called Fontomizer SP that works quite well. Doesn't have a ton of fonts but plenty to customize the phone a little more.

i just downloaded fontomizer sp - not bad- would like a few more fonts. i can't find any other free ones-- anyone know of any-- without rooting?

when i go to /system/fonts folder i see a bunch of stock fonts already. however, when i go to settings->display->font style, i only see FOUR?

why is it not all stock fonts are available under font style?

for rooted phone, can i just copy anyfont.ttf to /system/fonts folder and be able to select the fonts from settings->display->font style

you can download fonts (in apk format) from www.freeandroidfonts.com and install it.
then choose the font in display settings

i use fontimizer to download fonts than you can choose them the normal way through settings
