I was wondering if anything in the manual update was problematic that would not be in the ota. I am excited to see ICS on my phone but must be on the short bus as I have not gotten the ota yet. Should I manually update using the downloadable file on youtube , or just wait for the ota ? Thanks for your help

At this point, you could go either way. The maual DL is the same exact thing as the OTA. There is NO difference. That being said, the rumor is that Sprint has halted the rollout to work out a few of the major bugs that have been reported, and that it will begin again shortly. Personally, I have not had any major issues with the ICS update that I applied manually. YMMV.

Does anyone know if it is ok to manually update the ICS to the Galaxy 2 from sprint? Since Samsung took the OTA off b/c of prob and who knows when that will come back. Is it safe to do it manually? Anyone anyone done this in the past few days? Any updates?

i could show you step by step how too but honestly i wouldn't recommend it, Your battery will decrease HIGHLY, Sprint actually had to send me a refurbished phone through the mail with stock gingerbread installed on it, that's how bad it was, You should wait until the update gets patched up bro, I wont lie the ICS is nice, But too many bugs and glitches makes you hate it. I hope this helps.

This is VERY true, at least for me, too.

I have manually updated phones before with no problem. Doing it manually is exactly the same as getting an OTA in terms of the results. The only difference is you are getting the update file that was pushed to someone else's phone. Just make sure you get it from a trusted source.

If you want to get it, but you aren't sure were to get it from I can look around for a good download. Just let me know.
