so i was advised to stay away from sense roms for the best results in battery life but i haven't found that very true, I run MikG 3.11 and get pretty darn good battery life but when i try any ice cream sandwich roms my battery ALWAYS drains in literally a couple of hours and when I try to charge my phone it just refuses to charge! on the contrary it continues to drain my battery. does this happen to anyone else? any advice, maybe im doing something wrong. anybody know a full ics rom that wount do this to me. anything? anyone?

My phone would not gain a charge with ics roms unless the screen was off as well, and furthermore were not as responsive as the more mature gingerbread roms. Aosp gingerbread roms like decks reloaded and cm7.2 (with certain tweaks added) are where its at on the evo 4g. I haven't used a sense rom in probably close to two years. Since I've had my phone since it was released, rooted right away and within a month or two switched over to savaged Zen, then cm7.1, then cm7.2, then decks reloaded. They all have similar interfaces that are very customizable, but are very different roms underneath. And whichever aosp roms you choose make sure you run a Mason kernel, they are highly praised and really seem to make the difference on my phone at least.

Well you gotta remember the EVO 4g was not meant to run ics. Most phones with full ics are dual core powerhouses that can run it efficiently.
Aosp is better on battery life than sense, but comparing a sense gb Rom to an ics aosp Rom isn't comparing apples to apples.

Which ICS roms have you tried? I have run several ICS roms and never had any issue with that kind of battery drain or problems charging. I suggest trying RemICS-UX Port or Team D.I.R.T and if you're feeling brave enough, you can try the latest BlackICE Kangorade but being so new, it still has a few bugs that need to be worked out.
Also, since the BlackICE rom is AOKP, it has the most customizable options out the three I listed.

This is not typical of any ics rom. It has to be something on the user end. Bad download? What recovery are you using? What wiping process are you using? What do you have syncing? Are you trying to flash any mods? One of these types of questions will have an answer.
The only other possibility is a hardware issue but if everything works fine on gb then your hardware should be ok.

Also stay away from jb rooms for now. Just focus on ics. Jb is only worth running for an hour or two anyway since it's slow and a lot of things are broken.

Mizz!!!! This may be the first time in history I disagree with you!!! Granted camera, etc dont work...I have been on cm 10 for about 24 hrs now...it runs great, I'd even say it is DD worthy if you don't need camera!!!!

It just seems laggy on the builds I've ran but the last paranoid android build was a bit better. What are you running? I'm thinking of giving team dirt aokp a flash.

I am on jmz Taylors cm 10. Build 7/28. I would go with the 7/21 build tho as something borked vid playback on builds after that one. I'll say this....Google is moving in the right direction with ICS and jb
