[Verizon] [ROM]JDX (formerly Jelly Belly) AOSP+ - v15 (7/28)

I tried clean wiping my phone (factory reset, system, then flash) for installation of 5.0, gapps 7/26, and the Power Menu mod just now. I did everything and rebooted. However, I am now stuck on the X logo going on 12+ minutes.

Anyone else experience this or should I battery pull and try again?

EDIT: Pulled battery, tried 5.0 again. Same thing. Pulled battery, tried 4.2 again. Same thing. Pulled battery, restoring my 3.9 Nandroid. Going on 7 minutes on the X boot logo currently. Not sure what else I could have done? This hasn't happened before. Where do I go from here?

Here is how I installed 5.0;

1. Make a Titanium backup and update.zip

2. Recovery

3. Flash JB bootloader

4. Wipe data (factory reset)

5. Wipe cache

6. Wipe system

7. Flash JB 5.0

8. Flash GApps

9. Fix permissions (very important)

10. Reboot

11. Do not log in your account info. And reboot to recovery.

12. Flash mod if you are using one.

13. Flash Titanium update zip.

14. Reboot

15. Input your account info.

16. Restore Titanium backup.

17. Done.

Use the above for a clean rom install.

I'll make sure to do this next time. However, how do I get myself out of a bootloop (even after trying to flash a Nandroid)? lol

Yes....
You need to do this for a clean install from a different rom.

Which one? I have the option for either or.

EDIT: I chose Factory Reset and followed the rest of the instructions. I am GOLDEN now. Thank you for your help, Vandy. (Even if you are rooting for a rival school, it's SEC and I can't hate.)

This sounds eerily similar to what I experienced with the early Jelly Belly releases. You have a corrupted data partition. Hopefully your SD is/can be backed up because you have to use fastboot to flash the factory OS...or use Wug Fresh's Toolkit to do it automated.

PM if you need help. I am at work but will check my inbox to see how it is all going:)

Thank you for the offer. Luckily, I got it figured out without having to go back to ICS and start allllll over again.

Good, glad you got it going. I update the steps of instructions so there is no confusion.

With respect to the devs, it's really souring to see the same issues crop up again and again with the updates coming so fast.

I'd rather see half the updates, but better testing between them.

I know, I know. They're doing it for free, we should all be grateful, yadda yadda. I get it. Just kind of frustrating to see an update that says "fixed all the wifi reboot bugs", and then another update that says, "all wifi reboot bugs fixed in this version", and then you go through the whole clean install process and get a reboot the first time you turn on wifi.

This is why I frequently find myself sticking to the Cyanogen ROMs. There's just a more comprehensive and careful review and testing process, plus a very clear delineation on what constitutes a "stable" version. Also, I find it to be very rare that a bug gets fixed, and then accidentally reverted in a future version.

My $0.02. I am grateful to the devs for working on the projects, just providing some feedback.

Is anyone else having issues changing ringtones or notifications? I go and switch to something else and hit OK and it keeps originally selected ringer. Any ideas?

I am on 5.1 and don't appear to have that issue. I did have an app (Google+) that wouldn't accept/save a change in the setting. that app also was hanging and draining battery. after an uninstall I'm getting great deep sleep. have not re-installed yet to see if problem persists.
Your problem, however, is a system problem. sounds like a read/write issue. did you fix permissions after you flashed?

Flashed this last night...deep sleep looks good, looks like there was a boost in WiFi signal in 5.1 too...or it was missing in 5.0...but 5.1 is flying for me. Will look at battery today.
So far, here is a nandroid for me!!
Love the buttery-er 5.1...!!!!!

After an initial problem with Google+ app hanging (now uninstalled) i'm getting great deep sleep. WiFi and 4G are great/better with this ROM as has been my impression since I first jumped on board at 3.6....

Thanks to the dev and everyone here... especially those supplying the ROM's in dropbox... d/l of 5.1 last night was killing me on goo but dropbox saved the day.

Man, I am having a devil of a time with 3.8... time to go to 5.1. ROMs seem to need a reflash every couple weeks that I have seen to keep them running smoothly. Anyone else seeing this? I am completely unable to put my phone in airplane mode, or toggle CDMA/LTE, etc.

Just checked and so far (less a full day in) I am not having either of these issues in 5.1.

I was having similar issues on 3.8 but not at first, only after I had it running for a week or more. A reboot would make the options stick, but that was a pain every time.

Haven't experienced any of that on 5.1 but again only been on it a little while.
