Root Has anybody got a Hard Drive hooked up to their D3?

I tried to hook up an external USB hard drive to my D3 after reading about how to do it while researching some info on a tablet.

I can get the "USB Host Controller" software to see and identify the drive, but the operating system does not seem to have any drivers that will do anything with it.

Has anybody done this? Any pointers would be helpful.

Before you ask why, just remember you can't have TOO MUCH storage!:)

Also before you ask, I had to use the "power and data" connector of the USB hard drive (plugged into my laptop) to actually power the drive. The data connector plugged into the D3 using an OTG cable and was charging the D3 (as a bonus.)

The hard drive in question is formatted NTFS (from a VISTA system originally) and when I used the same software to access the drive on my new ASUS Infinity tablet, it all worked perfectly.

So I assume there is driver somewhere (perhaps supplied by the device mfg. Moto or ASUS) that I am missing on the D3.

It's not a big deal, since I was testing on the D3 in advance of getting the tablet. I thought the ANDROID system software would be the same, but now that I have both devices in hand, I can see some differences, at least in the presentation layer.

Sorry it took so long to reply, but we were traveling and while the faithful D3 was with me, the requisite ext HD was not.

I installed the Paragon software you suggested and it works perfectly! After I plugged in the drive as I described earlier (the D3 will not power the drive by itself) I ran the Paragon app, and it "saw" the drive immediately. When I mounted it, I was offered an "automatic" choice of mount point, or I could specify one of my own. I selected automatic and that was it. The drive is now accessible from my D3.

I now have a way to backup the entire D3 that does not depend on using my computer for anything except power! And I can safely store the backup HD any place I want to.

The software for the D3 just keeps getting better. Now, if we can just get it fully unlocked, it will be awesome. After seeing ICS on the tablet, I am itching to get it on the D3.
