Nexus 7 touchscreen dead spots

On a few occasions my touch screen has become unresponsive. I've had a read about and I see a few people have also had this issue. Has anyone else had this problem and do you think it's worth contacting Google for a replacement.

I haven't experienced this, and I've specifically checked for it. I would definitely call Google and get it replaced, as you are experiencing a defect, and not as-designed behavior.

I had mine replaced for that issue and my replacement has the same issue. I'm not sure if I will try another replacement or just return it. A temporary solution is to turn the device off and back on it seems to act fine after that for a random period of time.

Nope they haven't or the screen separation issue that's why I was thinking of just returning it.

If they don't acknowledge it as a defect, how did you get yours replaced for that? I'm confused :thinking:

Phoned Google up for a return today. Didn't know that you needed money in your account before they will authorise your replacement! Such a headache sending things back when you shop online.

My original was very bad for that problem. On the replacement it has only done it once so I'll keep an eye on it.

FWIW, when I contacted Google about the (a) raised and (b) fairly frequent but intermittent unresponsive screen they didn't even query it. They just set the ball rolling to send me a replacement.

(a) not an issue on my replacement N7.

(b) Never took more than 3 taps if the problem showed itself

I have the same issue. When my tab wakes there is no response when i try to unlock it using the pattern. I hit the power button putting it to sleep and wake the problem is gone.

Was you surprised when you realised that you needed funds in your account before the replacement would be shipped.

Pretty much anyone who cross-ships puts a hold for the amount of the item until they receive the defective unit back.

the only time i have seen this issue is when i am playing parallel kingdoms while in a grove (cannot figure that part out) :rolleyes:

I meant they haven't publicly admitted it's an issue but there's a thread over at XDA with reports of the the same issue and this story over at geek.com

I've had this a few times, and but I can't find a pattern or corollation with any particular appor process. The one that does it most is the Google search when I use the SwiftKey 3 keyboard, but it's fine on other input fields.
