I tried Swiftkey 3, thinking I'd eventually uninstall it and just go with the free Jelly Bean keyboard, which is pretty good. But I'm hooked now. There's no going back.
I have used Swiftkey on both my EVO and Tablet for awhile now. Getting the S3, I tried the stock keyboard, then tried Swiftkey 3 and must stay, I will stick with Swiftkey 3. If you do not care for the Swype function, go with Swiftkey. You will love it, I promise. Get the trial to make sure you like it first, and play with the settings to get it right.
Do any of you SwiftKeyers end up typing a lot of V's and B's when you're trying to hit space bar? It got a little better when they made the space bar wider but I still do it a lot, I dunno why. I thought it wouldn't happen as much on my gs3 as it did on my dx but it does.
That's really the only thing that's remotely bad about SwiftKey to me.
I love swiping when I type, and the one I keep going back to is TouchPal. It it is very forgiving when you get kinda lost in the swipe and will get the word correct. Plus it is free. https://play.google.com/store/apps/...nputv5&feature=nav_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwyLDNd
There are a few things that annoy me but all in all I really like it.
I also use the Jelly Bean keyboard, but I have one issue. When I save a word into my user dictionary it makes me verify it, which takes another few seconds and it's just annoying. Anyone know how to disable this?
I love love love swiftkey but can't stand the number layout!!! Is there any way to change it to the standard IOS/Android style number layout where the numbers go from left to right instead of a number pad style???
I realize no one else wants this but I want one with the cursor arrows so I can edit my text. I hate the movable tabs. if anyone knows of a keyboard with this feature, please post it.
it would also be nice to have the microphone icon right on the keyboard for easy voice input.
i was using swype but it does weird things like the cursor skips back to other words. then when i try to correct the error, it wont let me delete stuff. its weird.
downloaded swiftkey 3 (free) and like it thus far.
I like swype...been using the beta for months...though, i must say, they've added features and the recognition quality has lowered. The prediction is a copy of swiftkey and works ok...but the actual swiping which is what got me to install it has gotten worse.
I find keyboards are a personal preference, just like your android homepage.
With that being said, there are a lot of free trail versions of good keyboards such as swipe and swiftkey.
I personally tried out the free version of swiftkey and that keyboard fits my style. Not a fan of swiping.
I also hated the keyboard after a week or so of trying to get used to it (first time having a touch phone.) I got SwiftKey and never looked back. Infact..just purchased it today for 0.69p sale..my first app i've paid for. It's so good.
Using Swiftkey 3 today, A.I. Keyboard is ok, Jellybean is alright, quite a few free trials out there. My minimum requirements are having an intuitive predictive text/spell check, easy access to basic functions like commas, question marks, mic, number keys and I like the cursor keys for easier internet surfing, etc.
Personally, I love the swype beta. however, if I had not take the time to go thru the tutorial and view the shortcuts I probably wouldn't have been as much of a fan. I highly recommend doing that.
It works really well on my GS3, across the platform. The only thing that I've noticed a hiccup on is when you first click the browser entry on Chrome, it seems to take a few seconds to pull up. but seriously that is the only issue I've had with it.
the speech to text is very good as well. it's nice to have if you're in the middle of message and decide it would have been better to just speak it instead of swype it. This way you don't have to back to of the text to you Google voice or S voice.
