Root ****HBOOT Downgrade (Working AOSP and GB ROMS)****

Something, I don't know what it is quite yet, has made Stock ROM unusable with this mod. I'm going to say the kernel? (Because it booted with Anthrax)

Thanks for letting me know I'm not the only person who encounters a problem with this hboot and stock ICS rom. I'm going to downgrade once more and try flashing CM9 to see if that makes a difference for me. Will edit this post when I'm done.

UPDATE FOR THOSE RUNNING STOCK ROM:
Though one other person in this thread thinks otherwise, this hboot is incompatible with the STOCK rom. You must flash the rom of your choice after downgrading in order to avoid bootloops AND make it past the HTC/VM startup animations. Don't even let your phone try to do a usual startup after downgrading.

Instead, once you have the option to restart after downgrading, select it. As soon as the screen goes blank take your phone battery out. Remove your memory card from the phone and manually delete the hboot image from the card. Add the ROM you plan on flashing to the card if you haven't already.

Pop your memory card back in. Pop the battery back in. Load the bootloader again, clean your cache and data, then flash the ROM of your choice.

TIPS:
I now know that the reason I couldn't get CM9 0.7.2 to work is because the download link on the XDA thread is for the Sprint version and I'm on Virgin Mobile. That's why I encountered an error, though downgrading the hboot was supposed to make the ROM work regardless.

I downloaded CM9 0.7.1 from the link Johnny424 provided. (Thanks again Johnny!) I flashed that and now I'm good to go and loving it!

STILL, this hboot should be fixed to run on the stock rom. If I wanted to go back to the stock rom I'm not sure how I'd proceed from here. Would I restore my backup first and then "upgrade" back to my stock hboot? Or would I do the reverse?

The stock rom may have the same crap as the Sprint ota and will only boot with the 1.57 hboot.

okay so heres what im thinking.

with our new hboot downgrade 1.0.4 we are able to flash any aosp or gb rom that we desire. but what you cannot do is flash any sense rom. now what you will be able to do is restore a backup or a sense rom that you were running rigt before you did the downgrade. just like the above post states, whatever is in the new sprint firmware that causes bootloops with this hboot is in our stock firmware, so the same thing applies. so if you wanna use a sense rom wether it be the old firmware (virgin) or the new firmware (sprint) you will havw to flash the 1.57 hboot...sprint usersare dealing with the same deal..they all upgraded to hboot 1.58 and started freaking when they realized they could no longer flash their favorite aosp roms..i read alot of users downgraded again..because there is nothing that they new firmware offers that we didnt already have from the begining. well besides the radio type stuff.

so in the end what you must decide is what do i like better. .. sense or everything else?

or if your lucky you made a few stock rom backups which you can restore to do things which are available in lesli anne's thread..radios and pri, prl

maybe im wrong but i dont think so. unless someone has been able to flash stock based rom sense downgrading hboot?
