Text Delivery Confirmation

On my Droid X I had this confirmation enabled...mainly to make sure my daughter received a text message when she was in a fringe area.
The icon on the message would have a green Arrow to show it had been delivered.

On the S3 when I enable delivery confirmation I get a alert like a message back when the text has been delivered.

Is there anyway to set this up where it is similar to the Droid X where if you want to check to see if the message has been delivered you can and dont have to have this alert/message sent back every time for the confirmation?

Thanks

I just switched from the Galaxy Nexus to the S3. It is the same version of ICS so I am unclear why the stock text messaging feature is so different. I prefer the one on the Nexus where you can see the persons picture by each text. Now with these bubbles, you just appear as a color. I assume I am always "blue" but not sure of that yet.

Also, I miss having the delivery report being a silent feature and not texting you back. For other Verizon customers, I would often check the delivery on any of my previous phones. Having another text sent to you immediately is a nuisance. I know for non-Verizon it always just said pending anyway. The silent delivery report was also a good way for me to see who had Verizon (since i don't have unlimited texts to non-VZW).

Is there a fix for this? I am sure you are all going to say to use another texting app but i have never needed to do that with any of my previous droids (Droid 2 and Nexus).

I've merged your two threads, I hope you understand:)
I'm not really sure on how to sort the problem but it's most likely because the nexus was pure ics whereas Samsung have added their touch to ics with TouchWiz on the gs3. It's kind of a swings and roundabouts situation as they've gained functionality in some places where they've lost it in others.

Edit: I know you said you didn't want a third party app but Handcent will give you a notification in your notification bar when a message has been sent. It's also possible to disable the stock message app in application manager so you'll only have one message app running anyway.

Edit 2: Maybe ignore that last edit. Thinking about it, it does still play your message tone
