The verdict's in: XO Skin sucks

I bought one from Skinomi. After I applied it to my Galaxy Nexus I tried to get most of the little bubbles to the edge the set it down to dry. In the morning there were 3 large (4-5 mm) bubbles! And one looked like it had a spec of dust under it.
I figured I had messed up the installation somehow. I was trying to decide how long to wait before contacting them for another protector (lifetime warranty). The next day I was using my phone and realized that all the bubbles were gone! I couldn't even find the spec of dust. Some have mentioed a rainbow effect on white screens. I saw that when it was wet and through the bubbles but it is not there any more.
I forgot I even had the Skinomi on there. I'm happy.:D

Apparently, what one person calls "slightly rubbery" or "smooth" is another's rubbery. I like the clarity of the XO, but when I dragged my thumb at a steep angle, it jerked across the screen. It also felt sticky when I tapped. It was on for a week and looked great. Hated the way it felt. Yes, I'm picky. I've order another Steinheil Ultra Oleo. Very nice - personally, I don't care if the edges are completely covered...

Went ahead and installed my skin. Despite the rubber feel it covers the entire screen. The op got the case fit accidentally iirc. Touch is affected a little but i think i can get used to it.

Fairly satisfied for 11 bucks. The edes fit perfectly under my diztronic case so the entire front is covered.

I also just installed my XO skin last night and all I can say is Wow! This is literally the best screen protector I've seen and used. Crystal clear, no orange peel at all, and very smooth. I don't notice the rubbery feeling at all. And there is absolutely zero degradation of the touch scree sensitivity.

I'm not sure what the OP's issue is, but I'm guessing he didn't let the skin cure before making his judgement of it, or it was simply installation errors.

I guarantee if I handed you my phone you would never know there was a protector on it.

I have to +1 this as well. Looked pretty bad in the first hour or two that I had it on. So much so that I thought I had too many bubbles and started a thread about it. As of this morning, it looks perfect. Can't really tell it is on there. I have used Zagg, Verizon ones and others on prior phones and none were anything like this one. I'm not easily impressed, but I am in this case.

I have NEVER been a fan of screen protectors. Had my OG Droid for 2 years without a case or protector and was a happy camper with zero scratches on the screen. The main reason I put one on the Nexus is in case I decide by 1/15 that I want to exchange it for any reason.
I must say, after installing it over the weekend and using it a few days, it really is not a bad screen protector at all. The installation was easy and EVERY bubble disappeared within 30 or so hours. At first it did seem very tacky/rubbery to me. After a few days it does not seem nearly as bad. It is not as smooth as the glass itself but it has lost some of the rubbery feel from initial installation. I have no problem keeping this on the phone, given the peace of mind it provides.

Re-read my op. I gave it a week to cure, and how would one install a screen protecror incorrectly anyway?

I have read it. The only reason you said you returned the first one was because you got the case fit, which didn't cover the whole screen. The second one you only had for two days.

I'm not really sure HOW you installed it incorrectly, but that seems the only logical explanation considering the quality of the XO protector on my phone. I have used many screen protectors since my Blackberry Curve days, including dry and wet application protectors. I've used the cheap $3 Amazon/eBay protectors and the more expensive Zagg and Phantom Skin protectors. Too many to list. Some were better than others, but this is by far the best wet application protector I've ever used.

I just can't see having all the problems you've experienced with a properly installed protector that has had time to dry and cure properly.

Maybe you just got a bad one, it's possible, but to say that the verdict is in and they suck justbisnt correct.

if you "read it" as you claim, you'd know that i returned the xo skin for more reason that it didn't fit the whole screen, and you don't know how a screen protector could be installed incorrectly because there's only one way to do it ;)

For what it's worth, I had good luck getting my Zagg to feel super slick by applying a drop or two of quality liquid car wax, and polishing it up. The result is clear, scratch-free, and smooth to the touch.

I've had very good luck with Zagg. One "trick" I've found is to not use the phone overnight, after installing the shield. From what I can tell, using the phone while the shield is drying, the oil/dirt from your fingers can be absorbed into the shield. This seems to be a cause of complaints that the shield is "sticky" -- the oil/dirt keep the shield from curing properly.

it didn't cover the entire screen, which kinda defeats the purpose of a screen protector.....

They make 2 sizes for the gnex, one for phones with a case on and one for when there is no case. You may have ordered or received the one that is meant for use with a case (slightly smaller) They sent me the wrong size once so I emailed customer support and they sent me 2 proper sized ones for replacement. No problems since. Love this skin.

Wish I could remember what screen protector they put on my phone at BestBuy (talked me into it when I bought the case). All I know is that it has a lifetime guarantee, and I have no issues with it.

Now that's gonna drive me insane till I remember the name of it. It's trvth's fault for necromancing the thread! :p

My guess is probably Zagg's InvisibleShield.
