Root [ROM]Black Plague w/ Plague kernel

I love this ROM! It made my phone super fast! I am having problems with ROM Toolbox Pro though. It will not open, as soon as I click on it to open it, it force closes. Also, is there a way we can add bubbles or something to the sms apk, it's too dark. Haven't check the BT yet. - Also, the cpu is not sticking for me, it stays at 1512MHz!

Did you install version 1.2? It fixed the cpu stick issue. Dunno about romtoolbox pro mines work fine you could probably try reinstalling it. Make sure to uninstall the free version that comes with 1.2.

edit : oh and you can grab the stock mms apk file from broken out and swap it out with black plague.

CPU still not sticking. The only thing that works is deleting the boot.she file. I'm going to delete the file like the guy who had the BO rom suggested, but since you say that the file has other important functions, please try to figure out how to solve this issue without having to delete the boot.sh.

I know its hard to debug something you're not experiencing, but the only solution for the ones whose CPU isn't sticking is deleting the boot.sh, you say it shouldn't be deleted, but I can't figure out any other way to make the CPU stick to the profile settings.

Other than that thohgh, thanks PG, the ROM is amazing!

Not trying to start anything, this is an honest question. What's the difference between this and broken out? Most of the same issues are there, and it looks pretty identical other than a few cosmetic changes and a different launcher.

I just don't feel like taking the time to flash this if there's no point.
It is built off mt's BO, but with a kernel I compiled, various issues BO had fixed, along with the aesthetics that you see changed. Other than that what others that have been using posted, and I have the device and will continue to work on it and CM. ;)

Which CPU App are you using?? I use the cpu settings in ROM Toolbox and/or Android Overclock (same cpu settings thingie tho, I like its widget! ;)).

yea I wouldnt suggest just deleting the whole init.qcom.post_boot.sh. I keep checking mine to see if its reverting n its not done it once yet.

Now those having issues with app, try clearing there cache n maybe even data n see if that clears up the issues.

Really diggin this ROM alot....out of all 3 versions/updates I think I've maybe had 2-3 reboot & those were only right after flashing, that's been the only time, which has been a spectacular improvement over B. O ... my phone now runs faster, smoother & about 10 degrees cooler since it caught the Plague! Feel rather fortunate that I've really had no issues to speak of, doesn't really seem like anyone has had any big issues that you haven't been right on top of fixing...
Think its awesome that you've stood behind your masterpiece and handle everyones concerns immediately!
I'll be tipping you out what I can come payday!
Thanks again, much appreciation...you're the man,

PG,
Hey sweetie, I have a small problem. First I love this ROM, I think you are so clever. I flashed this when you first posted it and I had a lot of problems with my phone constantly rebooting. I had a bunch of stuff on my phone though, so I actually just saved my apps, music and pics on my computer and then totally wiped my sd card and started over from the beginning, which meant running the lg update tool, rooting again and then I just first put ROM manger on, flashed CWM through there and this ROM through that. I didn't put any other themes on, I use TSF Shell launcher and I have spent so much $$ on different themes I decided to just leave my themes to those and I've made my own boot animation and I use that. So after re doing everything it all seemed to be running smooth, no more reboots and then I've run into my only problem. Nothing was on TV so I was just going to play music. I don't have ear buds, I just use either external phone speakers or I use my external laptop speakers, (I just turn the volume down on my laptop and plug the dohickey into my phone instead of my laptop) well, when I do that, it actually makes the song pause. When I first tried it I was using n7player music player ( I just downloaded this because the unlocker was on sale for .99 it's pretty cool. also, I did set up the head jack options in this player) so, I got out of that player and tried with just the stock music player, nope, neutron music player, nope. This was with my Sony phone speakers. So then I tried my computer speakers. Nope. You know how normally when you plug in the headphone jack and get the little upside down U in the status bar?? I'm not getting that. So I don't know if it's a problem with my phone, if I need to change something.

Thanks for all your work, I really appreciate all you've done

Anna

Ok, I've already downloaded the rom and I'm doing a backup of my current stock rom as I type this.

I have a question that anybody who has used or is using this rom may answer, by loading this rom will I lose all my data? Such as text messages? Contacts? Apps that I've already downloaded and been using?

Thanks in advance guys!

No, one thing is for sure, with your Google account, you never lose your contacts. If you make a backup then you don't have to worry about losing anything. Here's a tip for you since you are worried about your text messages. With handcent sms you can set up an account online, then on your phone, log in & once logged in you can backup texts that you want to save.

Is it system space that is low? Because my system space is already low & that has nothing to do with the apps you download. It's what in your system. Go through with titanium backup & see if there is anything you don't need or want or can convert to an user app

Been lurking for quite some time, first time post.

I installed 1.1 for my wife on her Connect, and it is a sweet ROM, smooth with the Holo Launcher, I have now switched from ADW permanently.

She did have trouble with the phone rebooting a lot. ROM Toolbox Lite could not set the CPU away from 1536, it would change and switch back on its own accord. After looking around and seeing that PG was having no trouble, I set the CPU to its max setting with Set on Boot checked, and waited to see if it would stay. It did. I then set it to 1188 (where she wanted it) and it is sticking.

To all who are having this problem, give it a try.

Also, just wanted to say that we both like the roms and kernels PG has created for both the Esteem and the Connect, and she is using the fonts from the Black Plague for the Esteem on her Black Plague Connect.

Fair enough, saving battery life alone is enough for me to switch over to this. I suppose the fact that you actually have the phone is a good reason as well, at least updates can be expected.

I had heard some things from another dev about you that I did not like. I won't post them here because the slander doesn't need to be made public. This is the reason why I didn't send you the battery for the connect.

If you still need it, its yours.

Is your SD card pretty full? As odd as it may sound I've found that a full SD card can cause this even though plenty of internal storage is free. Just something to check.

PG, loving your work so far! Just a few small observations..

1- The notification bar widget for turning on and off wifi always shows wifi on even when it is off. Also not sure if you are planning on replacing the animation when turning on/off wifi, but it is currently the stock animation which kind of takes away from the general feel of the theme.

2- Although the new animations you added are cool, I don't know if they are for me. When turning off all animations, i find that in place of the animations you now get a quick flash on the screen of the closing animation. It bugs me to the point that I prefer to keep the animations on.

3- pressing the menu button when on the lock screen unlocks the phone.

Thanks for your efforts!

I'm also getting the "out of space" message. I have a 16GB SD card, and my internal storage has 1.5GB free space. So this has to be a bug. That, and the cpu not sticking, ever, which is causing my battery to drain sooo rapidly! :(

Btw, can someone link me the mms apk from BO so I can download it and install it? I never installed BO so I don't have it.

Here you go remember to go into your msg and clear data and cache before swapping out.

Try backing the vitial stuff on your sdcard up on your pc, and then format your sdcard with the pc n try it again. Most of the time thats caused by cheap sdcards. I have a lil 2GB one and I only get space errors when its full.

I also have yet to have issues with cpu settings sticking and all I have done it flash the same zip I have linked.

Will look into the wifi toggle, and the vibrate toggle.

The unlock screen unlocking with the menu button isnt really a big issue as the default lockscreen isnt secure no how, but wil lsee what can be done.

I'll try that out with the SD card, but I doubt it will help. Maybe it would be a good idea to wipe data when installing this ROM? IDK
