NOTHING seems to work to update to Jelly Bean from Gingerbread Nexus S

Apparently I have the ATT version (GT-i9020A) Nesus S but I am using it with a Tmobile sim card and have not been getting any of the updates :mad:

I would LOVE to have Jelly Bean on my phone! Tried asking ATT to push it, they won't. Tried asking Tmobile to push it, they won't either.

Tried updating manually using the guide above (Incremental ROM). Failed. Would not even start
I am out of ideas ...

We need more details. I received the JB update over the air without issues, but your phone hasn't received it yet. Many others have not received it yet either, so I wouldn't be too concerned at the moment.

If you want, there are several options to update:

You can try clearing the GoogleFrameWork service data and doing a manual check for an OTA update.

You can also manually update using an update file, but there are a few specifics on how to do it depending on your version of firmware, etc.

You can also install CWM recovery and flash a ROM file.

There's lots of info on the net, just google for manual update and you should find what you need.

For manually updating, this is going to be your best bet:

If you don't already have 2.3.6 GRK39F, flash this file: http://android.clients.google.com/p...8148de0d.signed-sojua-ota-189904.0b9c8148.zip

Next, you're going to want to put both the 2.3.6 to 4.0.4 and the 4.0.4 to 4.1.1 update files into your phone's storage. Here's those links:

2.3.6 (GRK39F) -> 4.0.4 (IMM76D): http://android.clients.google.com/packages/ota/google_crespoa/IEzMw3FU.zip

4.0.4 (IMM76D) -> 4.1.1 (JRO03E): http://android.clients.google.com/packages/ota/google_crespoa/cSw0yuoF.zip

This is where it gets a little bit tricky. Because ICS fiddled with the recovery image, it seems to give the "Status 7" error when trying to manually update, so you'll have to do it all with the GB recovery. Here's what you do:

Boot into recovery mode and flash the 2.3.6 to 4.0.4 update, but do NOT reboot. When it's done, flash the 4.0.4 to 4.1.1 update and then reboot.

I can't promise it'll work since I don't have an AT&T NS to try it on, but it's your best chance.

If it doesn't work, you're stuck waiting for the OTA or unlocking the bootloader and using a custom recovery image to flash the updates (this actually isn't very difficult, but it does wipe your phone).
